The picture shows the small butterfly (30 mm)
- Polyommatus coridon (= Lysandra coridon)
- family: Lycaenidae
The wing uppersides are light blue.
Species information
The species is widespread in middle and south Europe, from northern Spain eastwards to the Ural Mountains. It is absent in north Europe and large parts of Italy.
Foodplants of the caterpillar: Hippocrepis and Astragalus.
Wingspan about 30 mm.
Locality: Vicinity of Kornigl-Mountain, about 2100 m, in the north Italian Alps. Quite close to the place where I took my previous picture of Lycaena virgaureae.
