CHIESA DI SANT'ANASTASIA
Forse , anzi sicuramente la più bella di Verona
L'attuale chiesa fu iniziata nel 1290 e non fu mai completata. Alcuni ritengono che il disegno ed il progetto risalga a Fra' Benvenuto da Bologna e Fra' Nicola da Imola, ma non si riscontrano documenti in merito. La chiesa di Santa Anastasia prende il nome da una chiesa preesistente, di epoca gotica, peraltro inglobando successivamente un'altro edificio ecclesiastico dedicato a Sam Remigio, quindi di epoca franca. In realtà la chiesa è intitolata al copatrono di Verona San Pietro, martire domenicano assassinato il 4 aprile 1252 non lontano da Monza. I veronesi l'hanno sempre chiamata col nome precedente e così è conosciuta anche esternamente, in ragione della preesistente chiesa. Fino al 1808 fu pertinenza dei Domenicani, successivamente fu affidata al clero diocesano divenendo parrocchia con il beneficio di Santa Maria in Chiavica. La consacrazione della basilica avvenne solamente nel 1471.
La struttura della facciata è divisa in tre sezioni che corrispondono alle navate interne. La facciata è incompiuta ed è prevalentemente in cotto. La chiesa fu costruita dai domenicani ed ha una struttura analoga alla chiesa di San Giovanni e Paolo di Venezia anche essa appartenente allo stesso ordine e costruita quasi in contemporanea. La facciata, simmetrica, ha la capanna centrale con la parte alta che ha nel suo centro un semplice rosone con un settore circolare esterno e la parte interna divisa in sei sezioni divise da un diametro orizzontale. La parte inferiore è occupata dal portone del XV secolo diviso in due sezioni con sovrastanti due archi acuti con intorno il portale gotico del 1330 con una serie di cinque archi acuti sovrapposti. Gli archi sono sostenuti da colonne ornamentali fatte di marmi rossi, bianchi e neri. Sopra gli archi si erge il portale.
La lunetta principale ha al suo interno la rappresentazione della Santissima Trinità con ai lati le figure di San Giuseppe e della Madonna. Il Padre è assiso su una cattedra di stile gotico con il Crocefisso fra le sue ginocchia e il Cristo a fianco con la colomba su di sé. Completa la figura una coppia di angeli sovrastanti la Trinità
Nelle due lunette minori sono presenti il Vescovo alla guida del popolo veronese con lo stendardo della città e nell'altra San Pietro martire alla guida dei frati con lo stendardo bianconero dei domenicani. Tutti e due i gruppi sono incamminati all'adorazione della Trinità
Gli archi minori sono decorati da sei rappresentazioni in ordine cronologico della vita di Cristo: l'Annunciazione, la Nascita di Gesù, l'Adorazione dei Magi, la via verso il Calvario, la Crocifissione e la Resurrezione.
La colonna divisoria ha tre altorilievi sulla fronte e sui due lati. Di fronte San Domenico con la stella sotto i suoi piedi, a sinistra San Pietro Martire con il sole sottostante e a destra San Tommaso che sovrasta la luna, con in mano il libro dei dottori della chiesa, mentre istruisce un giovane monaco.
Sull'architrave sono presenti tre statue, la centrale e di dimensione maggiore rappresenta Una Madonna con Gesù di scuola veneziana con ai lati due piccole statue, quella di destra rappresenta Sant'Anastasia e l'altra Santa Caterina della ruota.
Ai lati della capanna centrale due sezioni con delle lunghe bifore vetrate che percorrono la parte alta delle parti, all'esterno delle sezioni due camini che superano i profili laterali.
L'interno è suddiviso in tre navate congiunte con volte a crociera. Le navate sono separate da due serie di sei colonne l'una in marmo bianco e marmo rosso veronese con capitelli gotici. Le due coppie di colonne oltre l'altare maggiore hanno hanno lo stemma dei Castelbarco di Avio con il loro leone rampante. La famiglia trentina fu una delle più generose per la costruzione della chiesa. Guglielmo di Castelbarco, già podestà di Verona volle legarsi alla chiesa costruendo l'arca a lato della piazza della chiesa che divenne la sua tomba. In questo senso precorse le arche scaligere. La chiesa ha una grande abside, quattro cappelle e numerosi altari che si dispongono su una pianta a croce latina.
Una caratteristica quasi unica della della chiesa sono le due acquasantiere a fianco delle prime colonne, sono sostenute da due gobbi baffuti, il primo con le mani posate sulle ginocchia ed il secondo con una mano posata sulla testa in una posa che esprime preoccupazione. Il gobbo a sinistra è attribuito a Gabriele Caliari padre di Paolo detto il Veronese, il secondo è di attribuzione incerta, probabilmente di Alessandrino Rossi detto il gobbino.

The current church was begun in 1280 and completed in 1400, designed by the Dominican friars Fra' Benvenuto da Imola and Fra' Nicola da Imola. It took its name from a pre-existing temple built by King Theoderic the Great. Since, 1307, it is in fact co-entitled to St. Peter of Verona, martyr and co-patron of the city.
Consecrated only in 1471, until 1808 the church was held by the Dominicans.
The church is similar in structure to the Basilica of San Zanipolo in Venice.
The façade is divided into three vertical section corresponding to the nave and the two aisles in the interior. Unfinished, the façade is mostly in brickwork. In the centre of the middle section is a simply rose window.
The 15th century portal has two doors, and is enclosed into a Gothic structure (1330) with arches supported by ornamental columns in red, black and white marble. The arches forms three lunettes: in the larger one is a representation of the Holy Trinity with two Angels, flanked by St. Joseph and the Holy Virgin. The Father sits on a Gothic throne with Crucifix on his knees and Christ on his side, surmounted by a dove. In the two smaller lunettes, directly over the portal, are portrayed the Bishop leading the Veronese people and St. Peter of Verona leading the monks, with the white-black banner of the Dominicans. the five splays of the Gothic arch are decorated with six chronological scenes of Jesus' life: the Annunciation, the Birth, the Adoration of the Magi, the Path towards the Calvary, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. The central column between the doors has high-reliefs with St. Dominic, St. Peter of Verona and St. Thomas.
The architrave has three statues: the central and larger is Madonna with Child of Venetian school, while the other represents St. Anastasia and St. Catherine at the Wheel.
The side sections of the façade, corresponding to the aisles, have large stainglassed mullioned windows, flanked by two square belfries.
The interior, on the Latin cross plan, is divided into a nave and two aisles, with crossed vaults, separated by six columns each; the latter are in white or red Verona marble, with Gothic capitals. The four columns over the high altar show the coat of arms of the Castelbarco of Trento, a family who extensively contributed to the church's construction. Outside the entrance is the Tomb (Arca) of Guglielmo di Castelbarco, podestà of Verona, which anticipates the more famous Scaliger Tombs. The two stoups before the first two columns stands on two hunchback figures, one of which attributed to Paolo Veronese's father, Gabriele Caliari.
Notable is the funerary monument to Cortesia Serego, on the left of the apse, which was finished in 1432. It portrays the riding figure of Cortesia, clad with an armor and holding a commanding wand. The horse is placed of the sculpted sarcophagus, which was has always been empty. The fresco part represent the Annunciation and the Saints Peter of Verona and Dominic.
The Pellegrini Chapel has terracotta statues by Michele di Firenze, executed before 1436. A frieze by the latter, or by Pisanello, has now disappeared. The Pellegrini chapel also houses the grave of Wilhelm von Bibra.
The church ends with a large apse.

Санта Анастазия (итал. Chiesa di Santa Anastasia) – готическая базилика в городе Верона (Италия). Самая крупная из городских церквей.
Базилика построена по проекту двух доминиканских монахов Фра Бенвенуто да Болонья и Фра Никола да Имола. Строительство началось в 1290 году и продолжалось до 1481 года.
Базилика имеет высокую апсиду с пристроенной к ней колокольней, завершающейся островерхим щипцом с белыми нервюрами. Главный фасад церкви остался незавершённым (верхняя часть лишена облицовки). Портал церкви имеет два дверных проёма и украшен барильефами работы Риджино ди Энрико на сюжеты Нового Завета и житий святой Анастасии и апостола Петра, а также истории доминиканского ордена.
Рядом со входом в базилику установлен висячий саркофаг Гульельмо ди Кастельбарко. Создание саркофага относят к 1320 году, он считается предшественником веронских арок Скалигеров у церкви Санта Мария Антика.
Базилика является трёхнефной, нефы разделены колоннадой из 12 круглых колонн из красного мрамора, которые поддерживают своды, украшенные растительным орнаментом. У двух колонн, расположенных у входа в церковь устроены водосвятные чаши (XVI век), опирающиеся на гротескные статуи, называемые горбунами святой Анастасии.
Мозаичный мраморный пол церкви выложен Пьетро да Порлецца в 1462 году из белого, розового и серо-голубого мрамора. Мрамором тех же цветов была облицована аркатура входного портала базилики.
