A small back steet in Lucca. The only decipherable graffiti says "quack" ? Is the noise made by a duck written the same in Italian as English or is this an English speaking graffiti artist; perhaps it means something completely different, to do with youth culture? A quick google reveals various things but does not help me to understand the use of the word quack here. google did come up with something called something called "duck typing" here's a wiki entry:
"In computer programming, duck typing is a style of dynamic typing in which an object's current set of methods and properties determines the valid semantics, rather than its inheritance from a particular class. The name of the concept refers to the duck test, attributed to James Whitcomb Riley (see History below), which may be phrased as follows:
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, I would call it a duck." I'm not the wiser but I'll but that may be my left or right side of the brain malfunctioning (see forum on the topic of left and right side of the brain).
Quackery is a derogatory term used to describe unscientific medical practices; here is a quotation in wikidictionary :
1662: Rump: or an Extract Collection of the Choycest Poems and Songs Relating to Late Times. Vol.11, by "the most eminent wits"
"Tis hard to say, how much those arse worms do urge us, We now need no Quack but these Jacks for to purge us,..."
Quack Quack name of a band on the social networking site Myspace who say they called their band that just because they like the sound and shape of the words.
Amazon, the online bookseller as plenty of children's books with quack in the title and also a book with the interesting title "Counterknowledge: How We Surrendered to Conspiracy Theories, Quack medicine, Bogus Science and Fake History" worth buying at just over four quid? |

Hello Bev,
I absolutely hate graffiti, but I am not here in judgement on the subject, just the skill of portraying it!
You have chosen a great pov and really directed our eyes exactly where you want them to go! Good textural and geometric details.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
