--------------------------------------------
The Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Italian for "three peaks of Lavaredo"), also called Drei Zinnen (German for "three battlements"), are three distinctive battlement-like peaks, in the Sesto Dolomites of northeastern Italy. They are probably one of the best-known mountain groups in the Alps.
They are built of well-layered dolostones of the Dolomia Principale formation, Carnian to Rhaetian in age, as many other groups in the Dolomites (e.g., the Tofane, the Pelmo or the Five towers).
Until 1919 the peaks formed part of the border between Italy and Austria. Now they lie on the border between the Italian provinces of Bolzano-Bozen and Belluno. The largest of the peaks has an elevation of 2,999 metres (9,839 ft). It stands between the small peak, of elevation 2,857 metres (9,373 ft), and the western peak, of elevation 2,973 metres (9,754 ft).

dear Franco,
in this picture, the contrast between back sharp mountains and fore wood is excellent.
very sharp rocks beyond the blue air have impressive characteritics and mysterious ambience, these figures shows us our smallness and flatness in their reflection in this image.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hi Franco

I like this! The woods in the front, the mountains in the middle and the skies and clouds! Beautiful peaks! Very enticing:-))

I like this shot very much. The misty mountains create a mystical feel, nicely contrasted with the sharp silhouettes in the foreground. I was wondering if it would look even better with just a touch more contrast so I took the libery to workshop this.

Hi again Franco,
Fantastic landscape, very hard and powerful.
The mountains are majestic, the clouds improve that majesty and the contrast, and the trees work like a natural frame supporting that distant and dreamy scenario. Great mood.
Congrats, mb

Grazie Franco.
