Una simile l'ho mpostata ieri su TN, ma questo bel ragnone merita di esser visto anche dagli amici di TL.
L'Argiope bruenninki è il più voluminoso ragno della nostra fauna. La femmina, dall'addome rigonfio, con un'appariscente livrea a bande trasversali gialle, nere, bianche e argentee, posa al centro della tenace tela in attesa della preda. La tela raggiunge dimensioni ragguardevoli, robusta e ben ancorata, è in grado di imprigionare grossi insetti, come le libellule e i calabroni. Il dimorfismo sessuale, è spinto agli estremi, i maschi hanno un volume centinaia di volte inferiore a quello delle compagne; il loro è un connubio di amore e morte. Durante il periodo riproduttivo, il maschio, sia pure stimolato dall'istinto, muove incerte manovre di avvicinamento, timoroso di essere divorato ancor prima di compiere la propria missione. Quando, approfittando di una momentanea distrazione della femmina, riesce a depositare le preziose Spermateche nell'orifizio genitale della compagna, fulmineo si gira e precipitosamente si da alla fuga. Il tentativo il più delle volte risulta vano, raggiunto dopo soli pochi passi, immobilizzato dal potente veleno, viene pacificamente divorato in macabro banchetto nuziale.

Looks like an 'Argiope'. We call them St Andrews cross spiders, in Australia.

Beautiful spider, Silvio. Good use of the flash here. Did you photograph the other side (abdomen) too? It also has a very interesting and different coloration.
