Postcard taken from Limone del Garda BS
You can see Mountain Baldo situated in the oppositive shore in Veneto (Verona) my land.
You can see Garda Lake , the most important italian lake and the biggest.

Limone sul Garda è un comune di 1.034 abitanti della provincia di Brescia.
Il nome di Limone ricorda a tutti i turisti della pittoresca località i frutti di limone che qui crescono veramente: la guida cittadina afferma che questa è la località più settentrionale dove tali frutti crescono. Dal 1863 la denominazione è stata Limone San Giovanni, quella attuale, Limone, è stata assunta nel 1905. Il nome potrebbe derivare da un'antica voce "limo", "lemos", cioè olmo oppure dal latino "limes", frontiera, con riferimento alla frontiera tra il bresciano e la giurisdizione del vescovo di Trento.
Fino agli anni quaranta il paese era confinato all'isolamento e raggiungibile solo via lago o attraverso le montagne, comunque da sud. La costruzione della strada gardesana (ultimata nel 1932) ha rotto questo isolamento ed ha portato un notevole sviluppo turistico della zona, aprendola anche verso Riva del Garda e il turismo straniero. Oggi Limone è una tra le località turistiche più frequentate della riviera bresciana.
Limone è famoso per le sue limonaie, il suo pregiato olio d'oliva, e la apolipoproteina A-1 Milano scoperta nel sangue di alcuni abitanti.

Despite the presence of famous cultivations of lemons (the meaning of the city's name in Italy), the town's name is probably derived from the ancient lemos (elm) or limes (Latin: boundary, referring to the communes of Brescia and the Bishopric of Trento). In 1863-1905 the denomination was Limone San Giovanni.
Until the 1940s the city was reachable only by the lake or through the mountains, with the road to Riva del Garda being built only 1932, but today Limone is one of the most renowned tourist resorts in the area.
In 1979 researchers discovered that people in Limone possess a mutant form of apolipoprotein (called ApoA-1 Milano) in their blood, that induced a healthy form of high-density cholesterol, which resulted in a lowered risk of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases.
The protein has given residents of the village extreme longevity - a dozen of those living here are over the age of 100 (for c. 1,000 total inhabitants).

Hi Lucio,

Once upon a time -- a long time ago --(50 years) -- my parents put camping equipment on top of a VW Beetle and away we went to Italy. No tunnels then. Small gravel roads were bringing us over the top of high mountains and then we reached our destination: Lake Garda..
I will never forget that.

Thanks for sending me this postcard with the glorious light on the mountains to remember happy times!
