Piazza dei Miracoli, nome con cui è nota piazza del Duomo, è il centro artistico e turistico più importante di Pisa. Annoverata fra i Patrimoni dell'Umanità dall'UNESCO dal 1987, vi si possono ammirare i monumenti che formano il centro della vita religiosa cittadina, detti appunto miracoli (da Gabriele d'Annunzio) per la loro bellezza e originalità: la Cattedrale, il Battistero, il Camposanto, e la Torre pendente. Gabriele d'Annunzio utilizzò questo termine nel romanzo Forse che sì, forse che no, del 1910:
« L’Ardea roteò nel cielo di Cristo, sul prato dei Miracoli. »


Spesso il termine Piazza dei Miracoli viene confuso con un altro: Campo dei Miracoli. Quest'ultimo è un campo immaginario, presente nel racconto Pinocchio, dove il burattino veniva invitato dal Gatto e la Volpe a piantare degli zecchini d'oro per ottenere un albero delle monete.

La piazza è pedonalizzata ed è ricoperta da un grande prato. Assunse l'aspetto definitivo solo nel XIX secolo, soprattutto ad opera dell'architetto Alessandro Gherardesca, che demolì alcune costruzioni preesistenti, innalzò la nuova residenza capitolare (abbattuta nel 1863) e si interessò al restauro dei celebri monumenti.

La collocazione eccentrica, nell'angolo nord-ovest delle mura, che la delimitano lungo due lati, si deve alla necessità di costruire su terreno non occupato. Il suo mantenimento, insieme a quello del complesso monumentale, è affidato all'Opera della primaziale pisana.

Belíssima foto da praça dos milagres.
Gosto muito da sombra fazendo uma divisão natural da foto e mostrando dois tipos distintos de luz.

dear Daniele,
the colors of both lighted wall and in the shadow are very delicate and beautiful.
it of lighted wall is shining golden, and in the shadow it is calm green-ish and brown-ish gray, these look vibrating in the light.
arches and people are well composed with witty feeling.
