Today was our annual radune.
We parachutistes of the ex 13° GRACO , of the glorious B.A.O. Batteria Acquisizione Obbiettivi We meet here as usual every year.
here is a pecial place PONTE DI VEJA where we came to exercise in climbing during our military time.

let me post these photos to remember all my friends of this special life time.

Il ponte di Veja è un pittoresco e maestoso arco naturale di roccia, formatosi grazie alla caduta della parte interna di una grande grotta carsica. E' collocato in una valletta a 602 m sul livello del mare, è alto 50 m e l'arco ha uno spessore di circa 10 m e una larghezza media di 17m. Sotto i massi di crollo della volta e in due caverne carsiche (quella a Nord è lunga 170 m) alla base del ponte , sono state trovate numerose tracce del Paleolitico Medio e Inferiore. Il ponte di Veja è stato visitato, nel corso della storia da personaggi illustri: vuole infatti la tradizione che Dante Alighieri, nel descrivere le Malebolge dell'inferno, nella Divina Commedia si sia proprio ispirato al Ponte di Veja, così come Andrea Mantegna lo ha ritratto più volte nei suoi dipinti.

The ponte di Veja is a pictoresque and majestic natural arch of rock, which was formed thanks to the collapse of the inner part of a huge karstic cavern. It is located in a small valley at 602 m.a.s.l., its height is 50 m and the arch has a thickness of about 10 m and a medium width of 17 m. Underneath the fallen rocks of the vault and inside two karstic caverns (the one in the north has a length of 170 m) at the base of the bridge several signs of the middle and lower Paleolithic period have been found. In the course of history the ponte di Veja has been visited by illustrious people: in fact, traditionally Dante Alighieri was inspired by the Ponte di Veja for the description of the “Malebolge” in his “Divina Commedia” , while Andrea Mantenga portrayed it several times in his paintings.

Der Ponte di Veja ist ein malerischer und majestätischer natürlicher Felsbogen, der sich beim Einsturz des Innengewölbes einer grossen Karsthöhle bildete. Er befindet sich in einem kleinen Tal auf 602 m.ü.M., seine Höhe beträgt 50 m, die Bogendicke etwa 10 m und die durchschnittliche Breite 17 m. Unter den eingestürzten Felsbrocken des Höhlengewölbes und in zwei Karsthöhlen (diejenige auf der Nordseite besitzt eine Länge von 170 m) am Fusse der Brücke wurden zahlreiche Spuren aus der Mittleren und Niederen Altsteinzeit entdeckt. Der Ponte di Veja wurde im Laufe der Geschichte von berümten Persönlichkeiten besichtigt: der Überlieferung zufolge heisst es, Dante Alighieri habe sich vom Ponte di Veja zur Beschreibung des Grabens (die “malebolge”) in der Hölle seiner Divina Commedia inspirieren lassen, während Andrea Mantegna die Brücke mehrmals in seinen Gemälden festgehalten hat.

OH MY GOODNESS!! I have never seen so many handsome men in one photo!! :D I'm sure that you always enjoy retelling the stories of your time together as a group. My former father in law just met last weekend with his Air Force buddies of WWII (he's in his mid 80's now). Long time friendships are terrific!
