Giuseppe Mazzini, founder of modern Italy, great statesman, philosopher and writer, was born in Genoa.
I took this photo of a statue in Sta. Margherita Ligure, Piazza Mazzini. I was struck by the tremedous expression of somber thought caught by the sculptor.
