Dawning in the valley of Val di Fiemme!
It was the last day of our snowboard tour.
We had to get up early to check out from the motel... Well, sometimes it does worth getting up early!! A huge cloud was sitting in the valley covering the Church of San Giorgio.

Castello was one of the first inhabited towns of Val di Fiemme and the first feud. Although it was part of Fiemme Comunity, Castello was under the dominion of the dynasty of Tyrol for a long time. The name "Castello" derives from the castle of the Tiroles of Appiano, which was built on top of the hill where the Church of San Giorgio is now placed.
The inhabitants of Val di Fiemme burned down the castle in 1282 with the promise that it would never be built again.
The town is located at an altitude of 980 meters; the climate is dry and healthy and it registers the lowest rainfall in the whole Valley; Castello lies at only 2 km from Cavalese, which is the main town of Val di Fiemme.

Some of you might have seen this one on TE. but I decided to move it here since I don't have much time to organize TE these days.. The other reason is that I had a chance to re-scan it from the negative in a better resolution.

WOW ToM!!!!
Amazong photo.
I like compo and colours.
Nice shot, it looks like in old times in the time of king and quenns. ;)
I like the.... oh yes, fog. ;)
Congrats ToM!!
I will put thin photo in my Favorite.
MAtej

Very nice capture. The fog is dreamily spooky. Great shot. Personally I am not a fan of text in a photo. I always like to see the stamp and what they write.

Nice shot, Tom! Well, your composition is a bit too centered to my liking, but you save yourself with a wonderful light. Very atmospheric! TFS!

Very stunning picture, Tom. You are right that it was well worth getting up early to see this one. The composition is very good, maybe a bit too centered on the castle but the colours are great with a very nice light. The fog is what makes this picture very moody. Well done!

Dreamy, mysterious, a sort of unreal place... Great compostion and colours :)

Although it's not an IR photo but can give misty and dreamy feeling, good idea to put the church in the centre, very well captured, TFS

beautiful mist and light
very good composition, good mood in the photo

That's great !!! The ambiance is catched very well... we are back in the middle age like in "the name of the rose"...
TFS
Denis

You are quite good at these landscape shots. :) I do like the effect of mist gives a very dreamy effect. I agree about the central composition, and I also rarely like text in images. Just for checking out on the composition I did try a crop but reckoned your picture was better. :))
Cheers
Lakshmi

wow, great shot.

Wow, what an atmoshere here, the sky was really like that?? great capture! it really looks like from a dream! maybe there is a Prince around?? or at least a handsome Italian count?? ah, see what you do to me lol...great picture, Tom!
regards,
M.

Nice note Tom very informative, like the shot a lot too, terrific light, only one minor gripe think the subject is a little too central. But nonetheless this is an amazingly atmosheric shot, the subtle lighting is perfect. The clouds and light are marvellous. TFS

Peter

beautifull looks like a postcard.
good shot

Very nice range of tones. The upper of the image is very dark, making one wondering how that could be, since the foreground seems so sunny. However, by the very fact that it is dark for whatever reason, it does not detract from the focus of the image and makes for a very nice composition.

Hi Tom,
This one it's faboulous, nothing to critique, just awesome :)

Be well,
António

Amazing tonal range in this capture. I like how the church stands out in the cloud, very moody. At first I was wondering about the black sky but I read your explanation that it is a montain covered with a forest. Nice work and thanks for sharing.

Great atmosphere and a well chosen framing approach
Congratulations

Gareth

It's so beautifull that place! And the fog and clouds finish that, so much!

Looks like the mists of Avalon.

... as to be seen, it's always worth being up early to catch the mood of an awakening day with all it's beauty ;-) The atmosphere captured runs very well with your note given on the history of the place. Well done, Tom, well done.

Hi ToM, what a stunning view, and Castello looks so good showing through the mist and clouds. I love the mood of this shot. Excellent composition, well done.

Yes, the sight is amazing, breathtaking. But nevertheless, the credit for this great shot goes solely to the photographer for seeing it in such a marvelous way. For one, I could have never done it in this way, only in my dreams.

Amazing! Everything on it. Especially the myst.

I just can't force myself to stop looking at it.

Bravo Tom!

HI Tom,
Great shot.
It gives me the feeling I have travelled back in time to when knight rode horses and fair maidens wore pointy hats.
Great shot, The mist and smoke gives an awesome effect.

Great mood, beautiful shot... 3 horizantal parts with different colors on the panaroma are really impressive. Perfect composition and great timing Tom..:)

I think Pierre is right about the subject being too centered, ToM. You could have easily cropped more from the right IMO. Still, you captured the mood perfectly. I love those muted colours. I also like the deep blue in the sky above the cloud. TFS.

Hello TAMAS.
Your works are absolutely great!
I love this one too.Great POV and mood.
Really well done.

Captivating photo with all the elements a good photography should posses...and more.
If the cosmic theory of a black hole turns out to be true...this is it.
Isn't that black hole the element that sucks our attention long enough to start study this charming work. It's worth studying. Time well spent.
Thanks ToM
