The Capitoline Hill is one of the most famous and highest of the seven hills of Rome. It was once the spiritual and political centre of the Roman Empire. On this hill, you can find the Capitoline Museums containing some of the city's most important ancient sculpture and art. This street lamp was mounted on one of the side walls of the museum beside stairs going up to a side entrance.

This street lamp is fairly typical of the street lamps you can see all over Rome and in some other Italian cities as well as is the colour of the wall.

like the angle, nicely done, (*_*)

Bonjour Suzanne,

Excellente composition.
Bravo!
Réal

Hi Suzanne,
very nice! The angle of the picture is very inspirative, so original! I like the way you composed the picture enhancing it's graphical qualities. The warm colour of the wall is so natural and lovely. The shadow of the ornamented metal lamp holder is beautiful!
well done!
M.

Good angle and shadow.

Nice shot, we see the details on shadow part of the lamp. Texture and color of the wall make the shot warm. Your angle is different and special, i posted a ws about it..
Best wishes :)
Elif

The angle you choosed creates in me a kind of "head turning"...
No one line is parallel to the frame, I dont know if it is good or not...

I like the colors, details and the composition anyway.

Saludos.

I really like the angle. I think the thing I like most about the image is that instead of shooting the lamp from the side to capture the detail of the iron work, you shot head on and captured the detail in a shadow. Great way to capture the omage. Your use of the sunlight and shadow was very clever! I also love the texture and warmth, Well done!

Nice shot. I love anything belongs to the past.

Hi Suzanne, a very beautiful shot ... and I remember these walls. Nino

Hello Suzanne,

The lighting in this shot is fantastic. It play with your eyes. At first it seemed to be a pole lamp coming up from the street until I looked deeper into the image and realized it is mounted on a wall. Great shot, I really like this POV.
Kevin

Great shot!

Very good light, shadow and angle!

TFS!!

I like your composition here Suzanne with the angle of the lamp and shadow playing an important part. Very sharp and the colours are nice and warm. TFS, Paul.

Hi Suzanne,
I like the composition, the tilting is dynamic! As always good sharpness reproducing the texture on the wall in great detail... well chosen POV
gives a good shadow, I can see your vactation was filled with sunshine...
Regards,
Pablo -

Bonsoir Suzanne,

Hi Suzanne! This is very nice composition, playing with diagonal lines is usually fun and results with good photos, such as this one. Colors are great, you can almost feel the summer mood here, although it's been taken few days ago. Ah, Mediterranian breeze...

Good job, congratulations! See you,
Robert

Hi Suzanne

I like the y shaped configuration, of the light, its shadow, & wire. Well done!

Welcome back, Suzanne!
Nice shot. I like the way you angled the lamp and its shadow. Nice texture.
Well done.
I'm glad you're back.
d

Hi Suzanne,
Nice shot. With the tilt, I can almost make a face out of it. Unusual...but nice.
Richard

Like sometimes is useful in reflectionpictures you changed here the angle to make the shadow the fist object. Yesterday I could not figure out what I see, it was a bit dazzling.
This morning my perception is better.
So, what yesterday was dazzling can be approved today. I see the graphical play, very nice.

Excellent shot, Suzanne. The sharpness and the details are very well seen. Nice colors and composition. :D

Wow, what a shadow and POV! It is a very original way of shooting street lamps, and I like it a lot.

Thanks for posting!

JN.

Beautiful work Suzanne
The city of Capitoline should be beautiful
If I don't make a mistake, it is oh that has the " wolf of Of the Capitoline "
correct if it is wrong.
Beautiful picture, great atmosphere.
Congratulations

The strong shadow really makes this unique. I even like the tilt.

Very nice picture Suzanne. Nice colour and I like the POV and the shadow on the wall. Well done.

Light is so good giving the silhouettes of the lamp. The way you see and photographed it, makes a nice view, brown textures of the wall is nice too, well seen, Suzanne !

beautiful image Suzanne, Lovely colors, textures and great shadows. Indeed it seems sun was shinning strong in Itlay ;))

Very well done!!!

First thought - a sandy beach with a light stand - then voila - a wall with a street light - now that I get the angle and adjust, your POV and composition are nicely done, and the photo has a cozy historical mood/feel about it. Sam

This is an outstanding one, Suzanne!! I got something similar on my harddrive waiting for a later posting :))
Nice compo.. and a really nice shadow on the wall!! TfS :)
cheers
ToM

Good shot, Suzane!
Very nice.

Gigi

oh, j'aime bien le "POV" ici, super!! belles couleurs egalement!!
je reviens pour les points demain

This is really impressive Suzanne. Excellent composition, and the soft browns / beiges contrast really well against the shadow and the lamp itself.

WOW! I love this! Fantastic compo! The dynamic angle works best here and the shadows magnificent! A simple and yet very powerful compo.

I can see in it "A man (or woman) and his (her) shadow" too! :)

A Talisman Award from me!

Hello Suzanne,
this is so simple, but very effective. Many times it's so difficult to have an eye for a shot like this one ... the perspective is great for this composition, and I also like the texture and the colour of this wall. Very beautiful, and I can't tell you how envious I am ... October is the best time to visit Italy (for me).
Thanks, and have a nice weekend!

great picture that makes the viewer dizzy and not sure where up or down is!

thx 4 ur comment

Yessss, total challenge for senses of orientation. I lost ballance while looking at it, not knowing where is what. At first I thought its a street lamp, but after i realized its a wall one. Good idea to leave the plate with inscriptions within the cadre. Great shot.

Alban

Hello Suzanne, beautiful monochromatic photo and good point of view. Good.

Wonderful shot Suzanne! I like the slant in the picture - it gives a new view on an otherwise ordinary subject and the long shadow finishes it off perfectly! Multo buono!
