Leaving Rome after a few hectic days in a very busy city fill with tourists, cars, noise and everything you find in a large city. Our next stop, was in a region called Abruzzo which is located East of Rome in a mountainous region prone to earthquakes. Bordered by the Apennines, it holds some of Italy's wildest terrain: silent valleys, medieval hill-villages and untamed mountain plains. These villages are all well worth a stroll in their winding streets too narrow to let a car through with interesting architecture and colours. This particular village is called Roccacasale and is located North-East of Sulmona in the Parco Nazionale della Maiella.

Excellente compo.
Bravo!
Réal

Hi Suzanne,
Great POV... excellent composition! Very nice lighting on the buildings up front as contrasted to the shady valley below... gives a wonderful feeling of depth in this one... almost like 3D! Very good work! Since you know my view on contrast I won't repeat that... It's only me!!
Regards,

Half village and in sharpness against the other half, the hazy landscape.
Textures of walls and roofs are nice, love the old buildings like these, POV is very nice, Suzanne !

;-) Bon journee a Toronto!

hi suzanne
you chose a great perspective for this shot, the composition with the diagonal of the edge of the buildings and the fields below is good, and the feeling of a peaceful village on the hillside comes across very clearly. lovely image.

Well, Suzanne, this looks like taken from a professional! The angle of the shot, the way you composed it perfectly, and as Hans said, half-hazy distance of the background...just lovely! I also enjoy in almost graphical pattern of all the roofs and lovely old textures.
superb work!

Luc

I love this shot Suzanne. I feel that the POV makes you feel you are flying above the buildings. And what a vista, wow. I would love to be there, what a photogenic spot. TFS, Paul.

Ce que c'est beau ce coin de vue! Adorable!

Some helicopter-view. A mixture of vertigo and astonishing. The earth seems to turn over towards the viever; impressive picture.
Thanks Suzanne

Hello Suzzane,
When I clikced on the thumbnail of this image I found myself staring at it for quite a while. There is so much to see there: after the eye wanders from the roofs to the BG, I looked at the fields, roads and it was interesting to note that there is hardly any traffic there. Seems like a very peaceful place.
My compliments,

Shelly:))

Hello Suzanne, stunning shot of the old town. The architecture especially the bell-tower reminds me of one of my shot called "Chiesa San Giorgio"! :)) I bet it's not a coincidence :)))) It must have been built in the same era!!?!
Your photo is almost like an arial view from a plane!! DOF is great, the little town just pops out from the background!
Well done!
cheers :)
ToM

Hello Suzanne,

What an intriguing photograph. The POV is amazing. It really gives the viewer a sense of being right there. There is so much to look at here, but not distracting from anything else in the composition. A very well balance compositon. TFS

Well, here I go being "different" again, but I love the bell tower jutting up out of all those angles and tile textures! You can even see the bell, which I love. (I play in the bell choir at church) Interesting seeing all of those apartment-type buildings below - another contrast to the aged appearance of your primary subject.

Great job!
Gayle :)

Like the rooftop idea. Nice height contrast.
I like the depth you created in the background and the nice greens.

Oh, Suzanne! You seem so high up. How awesome it must have felt to behold such a picture before you. I love the way you captures a bit of air in front f the village to show just how high up you are. Lots of detail, very nice orientation. Love it. Goes to favorites!!

Aren't these views just fantastic. In spite of the fairly grey overtones and the hazy distance there is a warmth to this that can only be Mediterranean. Nice compo with the church tower slam-bang in the middle.

It's beautiful and interesting. I love your composition.

Hi Suzanne,

This is a beautiful image! Great POV, soft colours and a very special scenery. Comp is very nice and rich and all those old roofs are wonderful..

Well done !!!!

take care, Stef :))

Very good angle allows you to capture the dimensions of the place so beautifully. I like how the landscape is misty but the buildings are so clear. Lovely picture. TFS

Suzanne this is great photo! POV you choosen is great, it really adds the perspective very well.
I like the haze in the background, it gives the sense of distance and depth very well.
Composition is very good, I don't know if it would be better if that tower was more to the left, but the usage of diagonal line was very clever, congratulations!
This view reminds me of some croatian towns, you should definitely visit us :)

Great work, TFS!

Robert

Beautiful arial shot, Suzanne. I would try to make the colors a bit more saturated for a more effective result.

Hi Suzanne, after lunch we left Rome we drove all the way to Venice, and I could see all these stunning villages and wished we could stop, but we had a timetable!! Maybe next time I'll go slower. But it was all superb.
I love your POV here, how steep it all is. It is so interesting to see all the roofs too and the village so far below. I too would like to see it more contrasted, but I understand your problems, so I accept it like this. Good job, well done.

You have visited so many beautiful places! This one could have been taken in Croatia , too.I like the WS version, allthougt the original has the light foggy atmosphere that is often in such places, and gives more the spirit and mood of the real place!

Bravo !

Hello Suzanne.

Excellent picture, nice composition and colors.
