The Amalfi Coast, just south of Napoli, is one of the most visited areas in Italy. On any given day, the tortuous road going around the peninsula is crowded, and after a few hours, your stress level can go up. Not good.

In the main square in Ravello, I saw this dog taking a nap and, for a few seconds, I was tempted to join him...

PP Notes:
- Some cropping;
- Serious Curves adjustment to increase the contrast. I really wanted the lines in the pavement to pop out;
- Luko's USM;
- Re-sized for TL.

Enjoy!

To be honest, I don't really like the shot. However I do like the composition. It's just that I would have preferred a lower POV to it. Perhaps by crouching down or just putting the camera on the floor. A nice idea there...it could be improved I suppose. Just my suggestion Pierre...please don't take it badly :)

Hi Pierre, wonderful image.
the tilted composition have a great effect.
good light and colours, excellent cotnrast and focus.
great, great, great.
thanks, ciao

Hi Pierre,

Excellent shot and well done on the composition. Not your typical doggy shot, excellent angle on this one. The sense of being on a roof top.

Mike

Bonjour Pierre!
Superbe!!!! L'angle amène une dimension incroyable à la photo, une sorte de vertige malgré le thème "ensommeillé". Le chien se démarque comme une tache d'encre sur un papier grossier.
Bravo! :o)
Nina

Hi Pierre. Very nice composition and a special back(ground.). Wel done.

but most i like not dog, but that background is falling down.Super,Pierre, verry interesting pov!
Thanx
vik :)

Hello Pierre,

Wonderful capture! Your POV is very interesting, the angle of the lines are great. Very nice feeling coming from this image. Where ever they are, when they are tired, they lay down. Certainly a wonderful life. Very enjoyable Pierre!
Kevin

Hi Pierre,
Nice shot. So well composed with the diagonal lines leading up to the dog. And, it's nice how there's a simple patter of squares and gum, that's broken by the form of the dog, as well. And being a darker shade, he pops out very well. Well done and seen!

Certainly not the normal Amalfi Coast scene, but definitely original! Good compo Pierre, and I can understand you wanting to lie down with him. TFS...

I like the strong contrast here, I think it brings out the lines effectively, and emphasises the almost but not quite black and white effect. Nice product!

Hi Pierre,
Great composition, I like the lines! It is interesting to see the soft fur of the dog as contrasted to the grainy street... Nice one!
Regards,
Pablo -

The angle enhances the impact of this image. Like it.

Oh man! This is one of the best pictures I have seen today!! How great is that! I love your angle. No other clutter in the frame either - very nice. I love the way this little guy (or gal) looks resting on the stones. Excellent capture!!

Composition des plus interessantes! Non seulement la regle des tiers est respectee (he hehe...) mais en plus le chien est parfaitement alligne avec les lignes du pave tant horizontal, avec son corps, que vertical, avec ses jambes! Beau moment capture! Michel

Another nice vacational shot Pierre! I like it because of the composition, although it seems a bit too dark for the afternoon mediterranian siesta :) I agree with Talisman about the POV, it should definitely be lower, but since you are using DSLR without rotating LCD and because of the stuff you wrote, I suppose you were too lazy to lay down :)))
Great job, congratulations!
Robert

P.S. A little bit of nit-picking: first brick line should be aligned with the top border, and that will make lower right line going straight to the lower right corner. Perhaps that would make composition stronger.

A photo with good composition. This is a sample where the camera meter is tricked by the light. You get good exposure on the road surface but the dog is dark, if you adjust it for the dog's dark color the road is overexposed. But the photo is effective enough to cnvey your message.

Nice photo Pierre...

Jos

superbe, la perspective est étonnante!

great perspective :)
but i think that contrast of colour is too strong...
but i like it :)
regard e.

Nice nap I may say ;)
And very well seen Pierre.
Nice comp and very creative presentation.

well done!

take care, Stef :))

Ah Pierre.. I believe that there are lots that want to join you and this lazy dog (me included ;-))

the pov is very interesting.. seems that everything is falling (maybe asleep, too). it gives a quite unusall way.

Marisa

Hi Pierre, I like the POV selected, with the diagonal blocks adding nicely to the overall composition. All the best for '06.

Hi Pierre, I was looking in your travelogue. The photos are all great but this one was one that made me laugh. I love your title. Between your photos and Suzanne's, it seems you had a wonderful time. Great shots taken!!
