hello dear TL'ers :-) i hope you all had a lovely holiday period (and are recovering from eating too much as most of us do ihih)

well i had the great pleasure of spending the New Years weekend in my beloved Roma thanks to my dear friend Marco (marcocig) who invited me to ring in the new year with him and his friends.. a really lovely time with lovely people in a city that just takes your breath away... which leads me to my rather a-typical 'postcard' from the eternal city.. it makes me laugh a bit that for the second time i went to Rome since moving to Italy (and remembering that on my 2 previous visits in 2001 i didn't have a camera...) and especially considering that this time i was in such beautiful parts of the city and yet the only photos i managed to take were in the waiting room of the train station! what a silly girl.. in my defense the rain made it pretty impossible most of the time and i was worried about damaging the camera! but all the more reason to go back soon ^_^

so here it is! my beautiful Roman vista ihih - this is the ceiling of the waiting room at Termini station in Rome while i was waiting with Marco for my train back to Umbria.. i really liked the geometry and grey tones and how the lights were reflected in the glass window at the back of the room so snapped a couple of shots of it.. this is full frame with nothing done in PP other than b&w convertion and a bit of contrast boost & usm, i particularly like how all the tiny holes in the ceiling grates make strange swirling patterns when seen in a photograph that the naked eye doesnt really catch :-)

hope you like it and hugs to all,

Ayda

p.s. just for fun i've posted as a workshop one of the other shots at took in the waiting room.. it's always an interesting place for people watching ^_^

Hello Ayda,

This is incredible... the dark tones are perfect for the theme. The graphical nature of this draws me in like there is no end. Excellent exposure and I do see the swirl patterns on the left. Very well seen Ayda!

Peace and Love to you always!
Kevin

wow Ayda, it is absolutely fabulous! :D
the POV, the b&w, the graphism : PERFECT!

Ayda, you're in Italy?! That is so nice!
So... when you're thinking of visiting Florence? :)
Well, I've been to Roma several times, seen all kinds of pics, postcards and so forth, but I can guarantee you I've never seen a similar photo of Rome! So originality is good (nevermind the reasons behind it! :P) plus I like the POV and composition.

I like the way you've captured the lines radiating out from the corner of the photo, combined with the swirling patterns - very effective, nice product!

Hello Ayda... the title is great... I do like the expression; especially "eternal" which fits the waiting rooms perfectly... The composition is also complementary with the title...

Great work...

Can

Beautiful abstract photo you made Ayada..it is different than your other photos but I like those kind of compostions.
Nice to read you had a great time...it is good for you Ayda and deserve it. I hope you'll be happy in Italia and feel better.

Hugs to all you loved Ayda,

Jos

You have a beautifull portfolio and a lovely self portrait.
I realy like your vision/interpretation of the eternal waithing room. We all have been in this eternal environement/situation.

Ben.

Rome sounds great... but I don't think your silly for just snapping some interesting cieling, I think you silly for not posting the cool shot of the people waiting... So will say that yes being a bit softer I like this cieling and it's aspect... to be honest when I first saw it and the title was worried that you were going to tell us a sad story, so was quite happy to here about your friend Marco...

I realy love the picture of the drummer in the waiting room... very cool, makes me think I must go to Italy some time... as a musician I think it would be a great trip, maybe even as good as Ireland... maybe better... ;)

Ciao Ayda,

what a nice surprise to find this beautiful work on the gallery...
It seems to me almost impossible this shot, so moody and clear, came out from that dirty place as the waiting room in Termini...
un abbraccio

Marco

Hi Ayda...
Excellent lines! Intriguing composition and cropping, lines in all directions but with a defined pattern, round shapes also in patterns... Very nice creation, and well seen!

Questa immagine incarna bene la dilatazione del tempo durante l'attesa. Buona la composizione, azzeccata la scelta di far convergere le linee prospettiche verso l'angolo in basso a destra.

Sometimes it's good to look up. Very interesting ceiling. I like the patterning of the lights and the lighting. Good black and white tones.
Hurry up with your Bodmin shots, please :)

Ayda,
Looks like some serious science fiction!
I love it! The little moon on the border is a nice touch.
Thannks for sharing this!
Scott

Questa foto mi fa pensare al tempo quando ero nell'aeroporto ed aspettava un amico che mi faceva aspettare otto ore...;-) Bellissima immagine, mi piace molto l'angolazione e la nitidezza.
