[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This castle across the river valley at Turaide is so beautiful mainly I think because it is not in ruin like most other castles in Latvia. And the way it peaks out from the forested surroundings.

With some friends of ours from Denmark (Lars and his wife Jo who is from Australia and there very nice little boy Asger) we (My family also) were shown around Sigulda by a very nice photographic contact Peteris, who lives in this idealic little town.

Of course this shot wasn't then as you see it now. First I did a version without the desaturation (when I say desaturation btw I always use gradiant map, gives me SO many more options) On the coloured version colour. I did a drastic and enjoyably original curves alteration. And I liked the sky so much later on I decided to pain stakingly cut using the "Polygonal lasso tool" to cut the skyline and the castle from the version I liked the sky on, copy and past it onto this black and white version. Of course I did the usual 3 point edit at the start and between each major change (levels/brightness contrast/shadow highlight).

I know the logo is a bit full on, I changed it to this after adding, now that I see it again it feels a bit over done... but hay... this is experimentation...

This cutting technique has been very useful with website making recently. SO I'm going now to post quite a few different version which I feel are worth sharing of this beautiful castle.

Wishing you all a mystic feeling winter. :) I'm starting a new full on job and life in general is very busy so excuse me if now I don't post so often again. But at least I have all this little set ready to go up, so will do it when I can find 15 mins, free.

Francis
