last days of snow

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Last Thursday, hopefully, one of the last days when it was snowing. It's still quite cold for this time of year in Latvia. All previous years it has been a bit warmer (well, I know that for sure as I have birthday in a few days and usually there have been snowdrops blooming already - this year - none!). Well, this year only the last few days have been some +2'C or a degree higher, and still to -10'C in nights. Brrrrr.... COLD! At least, for me!
Though quite cold, last Thursday actually was a beautiful day. The weather was quite changing - then sun, then again snowing, and sunny and snowing... And this is a vew I catched through my office window. Snowy afternoon.
The black frame around the scene is actually window's frame and thus not so straight taking into account the angle of shooting. Was thinking weather to straight it up and make perfect lines but decided not to do that - left it as it was. Just cropped from all sides and left natural framing. And added the white frame. And, converted to B&W and then applied duotone choosing black and Pantone 1245CVC, adjusted contrast/brightness slightly. And here you go!
Hopefully, it's really the last days of cold and snowing, despite the fact that winter was really beautiful here in Latvia! I'm just too tired of coldness! I need more SUN!

Beautiful B/N shot. Well done Laine.
Hi Laine,
very nicely composed photo. Layers fading in the mist give a special mood. Very well caught sxnowflakes. I love the simplicity of this composition. It is very well balanced. tfs

Hi Laine,
The b&w effect makes this look more desolate, doesn't it? Looks cold and dreary. Nice capture of the snow coming down, applause for your natural black frame of the window outlined by the larger white one.
