[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo has been taken in the Riga Shipyard in Riga, Latvia. It shows a welder doing his small, but very important part in the process of ship productions. Please be aware that this job is one of the most difficult ones out there and that the noise, the smell and the fumes are an everyday presence.

The photo was taken in the preassembly hall of the yard where the sections are produced, which are later on assembled into blocks as elementar parts of a ship.

I addore these opporunities to go for the tour of the shipyard as they allow me to represent to you all the shipbuilding industry and its hardships.

I am professionaly related to this field as a graduate in Naval Architecture, and I must say that it is an asstonishing world, and unfortuantelly much overlooked by photographers. So if an opportunity shows up for you to go and visit any ship, or any shipyard, please do so and take the cammera along.

The photo has been contrasted and shadowed in sigma's photo pro software during conversion from the RAW to jpg format, and cropped in PS.

Please comment on the photo as I would like to hear you oppinions on possible improvements. Cheer, Alan

Hi Alan
This photo is perfect. Contrast and sharpness are great. I like the tiny sparks jumping out.
Thanks for the interesting note.
Regards
Nilton

hi alan...very nice photo. I think that it would be better if you got rid of that can in the bottom left corner. You could clone it out easily using ps. I just think it distracts the eye too much, but yes i love this pic and i deffinatly want to go to a shipyard now!
