Russian Church

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
It was dark and snowy when I took this picture but when looking at the picture later, the church seemed beaming back in the pictures against a blue sky that I don't remember seeing.
It wasn't this sky though... as I tooled the image, I had a sky from the summer time that I thought would fit perfectly and so I've used that one instead (and this is why the image is here and not on TE).
Several of you have asked about the orignal version of this picture before the sky replacement and levels adjustment so I have added the original version as a workshop.
I'm not exactly sure of the town this was in, but it was not too far from Riga. |

Bonjour Dan. Très belle composition avec cette image d'église! L'angle de prise de vue est très intéressant en permettant un superbe arrière-plan avec ces nuages. Bonne tonalité. Bravo!
Bye, Jacques

Nice PP work on the insertion of the sky, Dan. It is entirely unnoticeable. Love the different kinds of blue hues in this picture. And the gold on the church is very nicely captured too. TFS.

Hi Dan, ]
Great perspective! Wonderful colors and architecture on the church. Its very beautiful. I am open to the idea that the church could be a little sharper. This image has some hyper-realism to it, IMO. I will have to give you excellent props for the insertion of the new sky. It is entirely unnoticeable. Only looking really closely do I see a few spots on the right top middle tower. Excellent work!
beautiful architectural shot Dan! i love these eastern european onion dome chuches.. there are actually a couple in chicago i must get round to photographing one day soon.. i really like your perspective here, i tend to take architecturals from this angle myself a lot, the details are beautifully clear and crisp and i was very surprised to read you 'spliced' in the sky yourself! seamless work!! this is a really lovely shot and thanks for sharing it ^_^ - Ayda
Great work on this change. Is so amazing what level adjustments can do...
Very good work. You have excentuated the way churches are made to make us all seem so small... Or perhaps this comment actually says more about me than the church, perhaps also it shows the Granduer that is Godly?
