[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The ice is nearly gone, and what is left by tomorrow or the next day will be gone. We can all breath a sigh of relief that warmth is on the way back.

Took this while on a family walk. The river is the best place to walk down in Valmiera. The appartment we have been living in is just up from the river bank. And 5 mins from there up the river is the forest and a very beautiful walk we go on often.

I did a bit of work on this, decreasing brightness, then increasing contrast, finding that it looked great with quite a bit of an increase. Then increased color saturation quite a bit. Then resized and then cropped to this longer format of which I like...

Then it needed a little more increase in contrast, a very little decrease in brightness, and a low sharpening.

My wife, Kristine was saying that this time of year is the only time that the river looks realy blue, with all the melted ice. It usually has a mineral high kind of brown.

Happy spring... also remember that soon we pass from the age of Picese to the long awaited Aquaries.

Well Francis, I think you did a great job with this picture. I also love melting ice and snow (I posted a few pictures myself)... the movement of the water around the melting ice is excellent!

Nice job on this abstract image. It is a little contrasty, but that's ok. The simple colors of aqua blue, black and white work together well here
