50 years ago today the founding fathers of the European Community signed the Treaty of Rome. A lot of treaties, a few crisis and some major steps later the European Union today celebrates more than fifty years of peace and prosperity and an ever closer union. Today there are 27 member states. On the roof of the building (which is the Publications Office of the Union) you see 28 flags - the 27 members plus the European flag.
I actually discovered too late that I had overexposed the white parts of this photo and it was quite difficult to achieve an acceptable balance in the contrast after that. But since this is the place I work, I felt I had to post this one today. |
