[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

I never thought I would be able to share 200 photo in about a year, when I first register on TL. I was looking at the quality of photos I was seeing and I was a not seeing myself at the same level. Since then, I have improve a lot and my photos are a lot better then they were.

Here is a photo of the Rocher Perce, I want to offer you for this 200th.

Percé Rock (French "Rocher Percé" "pierced rock") is one of the largest and most spectacular natural arches in the world.

It rises sheer from the Gulf of St. Lawrence just off the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec near the village of Percé. It is a massive limestone stack 433 metres long/1420ft, 90 metres wide/ca300ft and 88 metres/290ft at the highest point. The rock gets its name from a large 15 metre/50ft high arch near its seaward end.

There were actually two arches in the rock, when the outer arch collapsed on June 17, 1845. For four hours at a time during low tide, the water recedes from a wide spit that allows the rock itself to be visited. Percé Rock is a major tourist attraction in Quebec, with picturesque views of the rock from both Percé and nearby Bonaventure Island. It contains millions of marine fossils such as trilobites, tetracoralla, brachiopods and ostracods from the Devonian period.

At low tide we can access the Rock and walk around but it is very risky since there is over 300 tons of rock that fall every year from it, from it's 5 millions tons.

This photo was taken in the boat when we were going to Ile Bonaventure.

Tout à fait superbe,Luc! Il s'agit d'une image qui a été vue et revue maintes fois mais tu as réussi à nous fair voir le Rocher Percé d'une autre façon et qui me plaît beaucoup! Salut Luc,

Photo très saisissante et impressionante. Tout est parfait dans ce cliché, les couleurs, le ciel, l'eau, les détails et l'angle de prise de vue.

Je me permets de mettre en workshop une photo que j'ai prise du rocher en 1986. J'ai scanné cette vieille photo argentique afin de la publier sur TE et, je crois que l'angle de vue différente permettra aux gens qui ne connaissent pas le Rocher d'apprécier encore plus l'ampleur de ce monument et la qualité de ta photo.

Pour une 200e, c'est du solide! Comme ce rocher superbe que tu as capturé. Il se dresse, magnifique sur une mer étale à peine ridée par les flots chatoyants. Les détails sur les parois du rochers, la qualité de la lumière, le ciel où, tu as remarqué, les nuages ressemblent à de grands goélands, tout concoure à faire de cette prise, une incontournable! 200 fois, BRAVO! magnificent foto! One of the most photographed rocks in the world and yet you managed. I seen a lot of pictures of it, but this is one of the best by far. What a wonderful perspective you choose it shows the full beauty of the rock with a nice glimpse of the coastline in the BG. Even the sky cooperated with you, the cloid formation is beautiful. La marée était assez haute je crois. Belle presence. On en voit bien les anguleux détails. J'ignorais qu'il tombait 300 tonnes de rock par année! Nous dirons donc que c'est du heavy rock :)

I like the low point of view Luc. The rocks are near but the water also. You succeeded in bringing the hugeness very good this way.

The is the most beautiful picture of Percé rock that I have ever seen. The colours and sharpness are stunning. What a wonderful composition...I love the details of the rock itself, so clear that we can see all the marks of wear from the weather and the sea on it. The sea looks very smooth and silky and those fluffy white clouds couldn't have been more perfect for the shot. Super work Luc
