Parus caeruleus (Blue tit)
Status
Our commonest tit. Widely and abundantly distributed over most of Britain, absent only from bare uplands and outlying islands of the N/W.
Distribution
Blue tits range throughout Europe (widespread in the UK), Asia and North West Africa.
Habitat
Deciduous and mixed woodland, gardens, parks and hedgerows. Nests in holes in trees and buildings and readily uses nest boxes. Frequent visitor to bird tables, especially where peanuts are provided.
Physical Description
Small and colourful, the combination of blue and yellow making it easily identified. Compare with larger great tit. Sexes similar, although male usually brighter.
Blue tits have a wingspan of 12-14cm, a body length of 12cm and weigh about 11g.
They have yellow under-parts with blue wings, a blue tail and a blue cap. Adults have white cheeks, but those of the juveniles are yellow. When they are excited, they raise the short crest on their nape.
Diet
They feed on small insects, spiders, fruits, seeds and nectar. |

Bonjour Dan.
La superbe netteté et d’avoir réussi à photographier cette mésange bleu de face et en soit déjà un exploit. L’image est splendide et les belles couleurs y contribuent aussi. Félicitation.
Bonne journée.

The compo is good, the blurred bg is good but it's a pity the bird is not sharp...
Nice try.
regards, willie
Perhaps a touch more sharpening in post-processing to really make the bird pop against the background - but I like the colours, the DOF, and very much like the composition of this shot.
Good job
