Yes, this is a good portrait - and all the more interesting for being a selfportrait, since you look so pensive, it is hard to imagine you were thinking about the camera. I also like the courageous crop that nevertheless left your right eye as the middle axis of the photo.

This is so beautiful Merel. The black and white and the rich and complex tones really caught my eye and the quality of the photo is excellent. Really good focus on your hand and the left eye, and I just love the point of view from close-up, a little below looking up, and near the side, it makes this so unique. Great coy but engaging expression and I love the light reflecting off your eyes, it makes them so dynamic and really brings them out. Amazing detail and excellent clarity, and I like the placement of the hand at the bottom, balancing with your face. The burnt out bright background could technically be distracting a bit, but honestly it makes you pop out more and it makes the shot bright and inviting. Excellent framing with your hair and awesome earring left in and with your eyes and nose off-center. It is very intimate, I feel like you are looking at a friend or a close person. TFS!

Mostly though, I like him calm and subtly happy your face is. Real pleasant self-portrait. One of the best I've ever seen, it's just sooo natural.
