I like this a lot, them grays are awesome, Art
The B&W looks lovely here (deja-vu?) it certainly brings out the textures (deja-vu again - have we had this conversation :)). I like the idea of the light diffused by the tissue paper, the lighting certainly works here (note to self get a cardboard box and tissue paper).
I have things like this - rock from Etna in Sicily, a piece of marble from Thasos, wood carvings from the Italian Dolomites, jewellery from Egypt. Little objects bring back wonderful memories. It is nice to see these photographed.

Hi Niek,
I love what you have done here. You have presented this subject very well. Good compo and good lighting has made these three pieces of wood into an interesting scene. It works really well in B&W. Well done and TFS,

Hi Niek,
A simple composition that is well done. Nice light and composition shows the suble textures and fine detail. I like the conversion to B&W.

I totally agree with that! Some of those tree finish as a sculpture! Or as lot ornament in front of a house :)
I saw many me too.. I grow up near water... That's well presented!

Hi Niek,
You can see how the water has smoothed this driftwood. Lovely composition showing the texture and details. B&W is a good choice for this TFS Julie

I remember stopping at a beach in the South Island of NZ a few years back, and we all gathered some of the exciting rocks off the beach. We filled the boot/trunk of the car. It's funny how when it came time to come home (2 day trip) they had all disappeared - my husband thought our suitcases were more necessary then the rocks!! And I think he was thinking of the weight in the car too.
Good idea Niek, that is if you can keep it to a few small items.
Nicely photographed, and I like the colour/ tones of the image, well done,
Janice

You have captured the texture on the wood very well, Niek. Nicely composed and good choice of DOF. I also like the shadows on the second piece of wood. Well done!

Prachtig gedaan, Niek. Ook leuk te lezen dat je dat ook doet, ik heb een hele collectie steentjes en 'waardeloze' dingen van vakanties die zo veel voor mij betekenen.

Washington is definately a beautiful place- although I've never been to a beach there, I'm sure the beaches in Vancouver are similar if not identical- and if so, I agree about the nature- simply divine!
These pieces of wood make for a far better souvenier than a tourist t-shirt. :)
A good if not perfect set up, I like how the black in the grooves of the wood stand out so ruggedly- nothing sweet about how they got smoothed the way they did. I like the shadows and the good use of depth you feature in this image, well done Niek, I like this very much.
Biance.
