[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I set myself a goal this week to capture this water mill in the early morning. Unfortunately the weather didn't work with me. A few days before, we had some wonderful clear and colorful morning skies with only a very thin layer of fog. This morning there was too much fog and the sun had not enough power to clear it. This resulted in rather flat light and an uninspiring sky.

But, I did wake up at 6 and didn't want to go back to bed. Arriving here I noticed that there was still a hint of fog on the water caused by the temperature difference between the air and water. I knew there were two great spots to capture the mill, but I didn't know that they've recently cleaned the creek and dropped all the dead grasses on those two spots. I ended up with a too frontal composition loosing some of the perspective in the building. I still wanted to post the photo because I like the tranquil mood.

The Noordmolen is a water mill located in the estate called Twickel. The mill was build in 1325 and restored in 1984 and again in 2006. The mill was used to produce oil. The mill is open for guided tours.

I used a 0.6 ND grad soft to balance the exposure.

Beautiful early morning picture, that is the better time for taken a picture. Lovely scene and composition of the mill a great reflections on water ,I like it.. great tone of colors and very sharp picture, very well done..

:-) ik ken dat... een idee voor een prachtige foto en dan kun je eindelijk de foto maken omdat de weersomstandigheden ideaal zijn, dan leggen een zoot puin neer in je ideale beeld....
Lastig, maar in dit geval denk ik niet onoverkomelijk. Er komt ongetwijfeld nog een keer een kans.

Ik kan me voorstellen dat deze foto mooier had kunnen zijn, maar ik vind de sfeer hier wel heel mooi.

Ik loop er een paar achter zie ik....sorry.
Die mist flard maaakt het helemaal. Die land"punt" op de voorgrond heb je met opzet laten zitten? Ik begrijp dat als je het weg "snijdt" de prachtige reflectie van de bomen ook grootendeels weg is. Een hele fijne en rustgevende foto Niek.

Ha, mijn doel zou juist zijn lekker mist over het water - dat zie ik hier een beetje.
Hi Niek,

De lucht, daar ben je dan snel klaar mee, zoveel mogelijk niet in beeld brengen. De atmosfeer is veel intiemer als je het close bij het water en de molen houdt.
Het is puur een gevoel van me, maar je zou zelfs een deel van het dak eraf kunnen croppen en toch een heel goede sfeer overhouden.

Ja, ik geloof echt dat ik eens heel vroeg uit mijn heerlijke bed moet gaan komen; maar ja, dan wil ik wel zo'n plek als dit als doel hebben.

I just LOVE the mirrored water here Niek! Nice misty effect also, makes this place a little spooky! Nice work on the lighting, can be a glare nightmare in fog conditions! You handled it well!
