Spring and beyond

Is it aloud to cheat a bit here on TL? If not oh boy…this picture might like if it was taken in this year, after my bulb field postings. But even now, and that is the time of the years, trees are still without their leafs and I can’t wait the they carried their green wigs :) So I took a picture from last year in may, from the arboretum in De Lutte, a wonderful place to be, in the county of my beautiful Twente were I was born (ages ago ;). This picture was taken in the month of May, on the edge of spring and summer.

I’m too impatient to wait for the summer, while spring has hardly started. Anyhow I hope you enjoy this view as much as I do.

PP-work; only increased the saturation with +15 and framed. For my friend Pierre Frigon, who appeared to be upset seeing a posting of the Baron with frame but without title in it. So Piet, specially for you: Spring and beyond ;) in the WS with large frame (also for you JohnT) and with text in it . *-*

Arboretum

An arboretum is a botanical garden primarily devoted to trees and other woody plants, forming a living collection of trees intended at least partly for scientific study. An arboretum specialising in growing conifers is known as a pinetum.
The term 'arboretum' was first used in an English publication by John Claudius Loudon in 1833 in The Gardener's Magazine but the concept was already long-established by then.
The first arboretum was the Arboretum Trsteno, near Dubrovnik in Croatia. The date of its founding is unknown, but it was already in existence by 1492, when a 15 m (50 ft) span aqueduct to irrigate the arboretum was constructed; this aqueduct is still in use. It was created by the prominent local Gučetić/Gozze family. It suffered two major disasters in the 1990s but its two unique and ancient Oriental Planes remained standing.
Commenting on Loddiges' famous Hackney Botanic Garden arboretum, begun in 1816, and opened free to the public for educational benefit every Sunday, Loudon wrote: "The arboretum looks better this season than it has ever done since it was planted... The more lofty trees suffered from the late high winds, but not materially. We walked round the two outer spirals of this coil of trees and shrubs; viz. from Acer to Quercus. There is no garden scene about London so interesting". A plan of Loddiges' arboretum was included in The Encyclopaedia of Gardening, 1834 edition. Leaves from Loddiges' arboretum and in some instances entire trees, were studiously drawn to illustrate Loudon's encyclopaedic book Arboretum et Fruticetum Britannicum published in 1838, which also incorporated drawings from other early botanic gardens and parklands throughout the United Kingdom. Nice pov, and graeat saturation of the colours. I like the shot a lot, it never ceases to amaze me how many shades of green there are in nature. Really nice shot.

Hello, Hans,
your photo looks very much like an impressionist picture (my favorite), especially some of Monet's water lilly ponds. Really an adorable view with wonderful reflections in the water :)

Hi Hans,

I can understand your impatience. I feel the same way too, despite the fact that Winter here was very mild. I LOVE the sun and the hot weather. :)
Lovely colours and lighting! It looks a very peaceful place.

Well done

Hi Hans,
This looks like a lovely place to visit! Love all the shades of green (compared with our shades of brown at the moment) and the reflections on the water are beautiful. TFS

Hello Hans,
Excellent Capture and composition of this spring scenery. Great DOF, sharpness and color, we can even see the people on the bridge. Of the 2, I prefer the small frame even if there is no writing on it. Perfectly done. TFS
Greetings
Pierre

This could be one of the bayous here in Louisiana; right now we are having our few days of spring before the heat of summer hits us. Very spring colors, great composition and clarity, thanks for sharing,
Fran

Excellent shot my dear friend Hans... i like it so much... green... the green is life... excellent shot... congratulations by this... TFS...

Aha, dus jij weet hoe mooi en veel rustiger dan hier het is.
Heb je daar nog familie - heerlijke reden om die kant wat vaker uit te gaan lijkt me zo.
Heerlijk ontspannende foto.

Hi Hans,
What a scene...very relaxing and quiet hearing only the sounds of nature. One of the best displays of greens I've seen in a long time. Captured very well. Reflection in the water is super. Lyndon

Hi Hans.
Very 'summer looking' spring picture.
Sure it will looks like this, one day. lol

Looks like Texas!! We have lots of places like this in East Texas! Nice greens! Nice shot of Spring. I hope you do not get in trouble for this shot....B-)

Everywhere looks so lush and green. I took can't wait to see the leaves on the trees and the spring flowers in bloom. This is a good composition and great colours. Well done.

Hi Hans. A lovely lush image, well composed and good colour. Although not as sharp as most of your images a nicely composed scene and some greenness which is lacking in most parts of Asutralia. TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Little Dove...’

Hans, looking here I say: Holland looks a nice place to me (song) TFS

Hans,
I don't think it's cheating and rushing the season to show a beautiful photo. It's never out of place. The colors and setting are wonderful and just makes me want the season to get here. I'm tired of bare trees and want to see more green. Thanks for the reminder. :)
Linda
