[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My quest for finding single trees with a view is something that will probably stick with me for the rest of my life. Where ever I go or what ever I am always on the lookout for that view.

The sheer attraction of a solitary tree with an uncluttered view is hard to describe. It might be the magic of that tree or the untold story of how it became what it is today. All I know is that it is a subject I love to make photos of.

This particular tree was found by sitting behind my desk and search the wonderful world of Google Earth and the photo database of Panoramio. After that it was just a short drive to see it live and wait for the right moment to capture it. Two days ago the sky and weather had a promise for a good sunset and so I took of.

Shortly after I arrived the colors in the sky started to appear. I set up my tripod, attached my 70-200mm lens to my camera, attached the remote control and spirit level to my camera and composed for a future photo. After taking a few horizontals I decided to take some verticals so to include the fresh corn sprouts in the foreground.

The spectacle lasted for over half an hour and many more photos were made. The only downside to this spot was that I was not alone. I had to share the space with many mosquitoes.

Your efforts paid off Niek! Love this shot. I really like this kind of minimalist view too. Love the slight slope of the landscape, the green still visible in the field, and of course the solitary tree and the great sky. Great job.
Oh mosquitos!!! Do they live everywhere in the world? They're just starting to make their appearance here.

before clicking on the thumbnail i thought it would be a boring classic lonely tree with sunset tones, but i'm glad to see the field lines details on the foreground

I really like this shot. The vertical composition, the placement of tree and horizon, the natural gradient of colour and light through the sky. The white frame works well too.

Impressive shot, not to mention your work to find and capture it! The beautiful color tones and tree silhouette capture attention. Then I noticed the interesting space created between the slight horizon tilt and the opposite tilt of the cloud line in the sky, featuring the tree nicely in the natural framing. The subtle lines in the foreground also draw the eye toward the horizon to make good use of its effect. Well done:)

This is a quit simple but very effective photographic composition.And of course, it is a thoughtful choice as well, to frame the subject matter in a vertical format.

Like the simplicity of your composition here, showing so much sky looks good. I would have cropped a shot like this and got less of an impact that this shot has, thanks for showing how it should be done.
