The weather in June

Yesterday I had the plan to shoot some actual picture to prevent to dig into my portfolio for ancient” ones. Well what to do; checking the weather radar of the Netherlands, it didn’t promise much good. Huge rain clouds came in from the south west so I decided to go up north to catch at least something of the impressive sky with the striking clouds.

Ending up in Bergen aan Zee (refer the [Map:view]); a small town in the dunes of Noord-Holland. A place with dark memories for me. Why are people like me going back to places with remembrance give him tears and greave? What is the psychological drive for this kind of self torture? Well anyway, after parking my car at the edge of the dunes I planned a walk through this well known area. Although I didn’t visit it for years, nothing really has changed, not even the houses in the little town it self and natures was even more or less undisturbed.

What you see in this picture is the former Bio-vakantieoord building which is a landmark in the dunes. The threatening sky will drop their water any moment, so just after half an hour spent in the dunes it started to rain and the heaven became dull grey, not really attractive anymore for pictures; but this one expresses the mood very good on the moment it was taken.

PP-talk:
Shot in JPEG, cropped increased contrast of the sky, adjusted saturation. Cropped and framed. Resized for TL.

A picture to suit your mood. I would have gone for the sand sculptures in weather like this - or maybe not - outside is always a better idea and those flowers smell lovely.
Hans take care,

Hi Hans.
That’s similar to Denmark, the weather I men. Brilliant shot, nice comp. very well done, TFS.
Jens.

Bonjour Hans,

a photograph which represents the moroseness of time well that we had in June and May, April had thought us of best. To make a quite luminous photograph, it's necessary to have the "nose in the air" to look at a possible break.

Finished for us in my area, risks of shortage of water like the other years. I spoke about it with Pim "Hitbit " with the phone since it's on holiday close from on our premises, it also finds that for this year, it isn't lucky (he is well, and think well of the members TL, transmits its friendship to you).

Hi Hans

The dark sky seems to reflect some of the atmosphere generated by your note. Nice capture of the clouds and the stormy light. Lovely composition. The weather is dire here as well

This is a wonderful view of the dunes Hans. Love the Rosa Japonica in full bloom! Did you smell them??
I just love the dramatic sky in the distance but it makes me wonder if you have kept it dry.
I also wonder how this image can be a bit blurry. It must be possible to have a sharper image... I must say I have wondered that more often with previous images.....
Maybe you know??

Cheers,
Anneke

Hi Hans, There seems to be lots of rain about worldwide..England, Holland, New Zealand, USA...but its always interesting to get some shots of stormy weather too.

On reading Anneke's words I have to agree, the photo does look blurry..and unsharp (hope you dont get upset..no you wouldnt..with me telling you this..) as OTHERS do here on TL..but its pays to be HONEST...I cant see how the settings you had this on would create a blurry image.. would it be handshake ?..im wondering ? are you taking note of how you where holding the camera at the time..(it happens to me too at times).

Or was it really windy, that can have an effect on holding the camera still too ?

Keep on Clicking my friend..

Cheers
Dawn.

Very moody image. Very dark :-). Probably suited your mod of the moment.
Good sharpness and details.

Hi Hans,
In a way we are luckier, we have not had much bad weather but lot of forest fire.
Excellent POV with the flowers in the FG and the landmark building shaping out on the clouds. Very well done
Greetings
Pierre

Hi Hans, unlike some of the others, I found the sharpness and detail just slightly lacking. It's a nice shot, for sure with good eye for thirds. I did a workshop with a different crop and some heightening of the hue to blue for the moodal tones and clouds. TFS. Hope you liked it.

Hi Hans.
Prachtige opname bij Bergen waar het een bijzondere omgeving is.
De titel verwijst naar het weer, de verhouding van weer en duinen zou ik dan anders weergeven.
Groet Frans

Hi Hans, well we had the same weather here in June too.

but this landscape image is very nice, lush vegetation and nice little touches of colour here and there.
Good comp with the house and the clouds.

Very well done! Yan :)
