I wonder what your opinion is about this over-the-top landscape. Not the landscape itself is over the top, but the contrast is a bit heavy.

In the workshop I uploaded the original. Compare them, and see what a bit of contrast can do. No sharpening used, only contrast.
It started to become painting-like, isn't it?

The image shows best when seen from a distance, about 1 meter from your screen.

Hallo Joop.
Not sharpened ? Than indeed it must be the contrats what caused the separated sharp leaves.
Not to my taste, I must say.
I have a look to the ws now.
Gezieb eb goed bevonden, haha
Geen idee waarom je het plaatje in de ws hebt gezet.
Die ziet er gezonder uit.
Groeten van Jan

hi Joop

My honest opinion, yes.

I always think forest shots take up a lot of pixels. I am surprised that this 302kb can get through your upload.

I think it is important to realise that oversharpening on forest shot can be very damaging in defects. And overdone contrast or saturation can also result in pixelisation.

This one has some bad effect, IMO. Honestly speaking the original in WS with its softness and natural look is much better.

I think you are very courageous to try this Joop.
And... as a matter of fact I really like this result.
Gives me a reason to try and experiment even more with things such as contrast. I would not print this and hang it in my house, but it does invite to experiment more...
I have seen the original and I must say that I really like this image. I love the greens and the peacefull feel it gives me.

Keep up the good work Joop!!
Cheers,
Anneke

Bonjour Joop
I love very much this special light of he true beginning of spring. When I was younger, every year, the first sight of this light gave me an indiscible (unsaying) sensation to the heart.I like this shot very much

I think I preferr the original. Because of the high contrast here, the image appears to be to much sharpened.

Hi Joop,
Brilliant learning feature, your notes and workshop will help me and others visiting galleies to look at the picture from a different angle or away from the monitor, the picture can have a dramatic change.
Cheers

Hi Joop,
You did this only with contrast? Must try it. I like the over the top look. Does give it a sketch/ painting effect.
