Delft from Far

Another picture taken in the vicinity of Delftse Hout. This one I shot into the sun as it was setting over the city. I left the sun slightly out of the frame and behind some trees as the intensity was still a bit bright.
Had to do some playing around with metering to get the exposure right. The foreground is either too dark or the background overexposed. Definitely wanted to get the exposure right to keep the post processing to a absolute minimum. Blown out highlights are of course also impossible to get back with digital!
On the horizon you can see the city of Delft. The skyline is lined by (from left to right) Vermeer house, the New Church and the Old Church.
Slightly increased the light in the shadows to add some detail and sharpened. |

Hi Johan,
Proud to see again a part of my country, well captured by a TL-friend from South Africa. Although in my opinion the picture is too red or to less sepia. You already mention in your note you are not really happy with the OE in the sky and UE on the FG. The big black area doesn't help to make this image interesting so a tighter crop might improve this photo. I made a WS to show the difference. Nevertheless I enjoy the perspective here very much a great view on the old and nice city of Delft. TFS!
