It has this +Optical Stabilisation (OS) +
My friend JohnTulip bought one some time back,
to have a good overall lens for his vacation trips ..
It seemed a good idea for me too.

Here a close by shot, sitting on yhe ground and let the Horses pass close.

Hi Rob,
Good thinking, because switching lenses is a pain in the ...
Very dangerous POV you have chosen - with a lovely result I must say.

Mooi tweespan! Bij ons was dit de "paardetram" !

Hoi Rob,
Jij ook in de paarden! Mooi "gepakt", lekker groot in beeld in een mooi frame. Top plaat.
Hans

Good morning Rob

Congratulations on the new lens. Looks to be working well for you. Nice POV here if the vehicle was the old wood type they could be driving to the gatehouse I posted today :-)

Sounds as though you were right in the line of traffic too :-)

TFS kind regards Helen

Hello Rob,
Seems like an early version of the street tramcar! So why not...
The tight framing works well here, making the horses look large and powerful...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Rob.
Wonderful image. The low angle makes this really impressive, like the horses are about to step out of the frame. Excellent composition with great detail and colour. Exposure for the dark horses is superb.

Kathleen

Hello Rob,

Very nicely captured buggy, like Amish one :)
Yea, that lens is pretty good, and you got nice results here.Sharp, nicely composed and like that low POV. TFS

Congrats on the new lens and a great view here.
At least you were paying attention to them. Otto on our last trip to Vienna was getting a shot of something else and couldn't hear everyone (including me) yelling at him to look out and move. He did moved at the last moment.
Great colors and details and great pov. TFS

Hoi Rob,

Wow, what a lovely capture here. Supposingly view point at 1 meter above ground level has made the image more magnificient because up tilted axes of shooting are puting grace to the horses. Fine details and beautiful colors. Fantastic shot has been taken my friend, well done.

Thanks for sharing a magnificient image.

Rob

slecht is het zeker niet maar mis toch wel wat scherpte
en ook vind ik het jammer dat de paarden tegen het randje vande foto aanlopen
daar is meer ruimte nodig

Very nice capture.
Good sharpness POV and details.

Hi Rob,
I like the low POV, and that you are close enough to get the expression of the driver, and even the detail in the cobblestones.
All the best,
Karen

Mooi gedaan Rob
Een hele goede pov.
Niet iedereen gaat er zo dicht tegen aan.. en daardoor
het effect alsof ze zo mijn monitor uit vliegen:-)
Heel mooi genomen ..sterke shot!
John

I miss OS on my 18-200 Tamron lens, Rob... That would be nice ;o). I really like the low PoV you used, it sure makes the horses even more impressive than they already are.
Did you blur the background in PP? I notice something weird in the stacked chairs on the right, but I'm tired and I'll look again tomorrow morning.
TFS

Hi Rob,

Terrific low angle POV, nicely composed, giving more visual impact, great DOF and detail. The lighting is also very good and the presentation good.

Hi Rob, this is very well taken and achieved.
The horses are impressive, they are almost coming at you.
Your pov is perfect and your crop also!
Great colours and sharpness.

Well done! Take care, Yan :)

Ps: many thx for your crit on "Shopping at The Bay, Rideau Centre" I am very pleased that you like this one :)

I very much like this image Rob. I think your new lens has proved its worth here. The low angle POV really does suite the subject and I like the composition you have achieved. The exposure and the colours are fine too. What exactly does "Optical Stabilisation" mean when applied to a lens of this type?
Lovely work!
Best wishes
Bill

Hi Rob,

I wish to buy a zoom like that or equivalent to that. My 70-300 lens is not OS or IS, unfortunately.
