And this is another macro shot in the zoo.
For a dark indoor shot one would normally choose a wider aperture like for example f/4. However if I would have shot this butterfly at f/4 it would have given me a DOF of 1 mm (0.04 Inch). By choosing an aperture of f/16 the DOF increases to 4 mm (0.16 Inch) still not much, but just enough for most of the butterfly to be in focus. It still means one needs to focus on the right part of the butterfly, otherwise the head is not in focus.
And when we use f/16 instead of f/4, we will have 16 times less light. So that's why a flash is needed to get fast enough shutter speeds to handhold the camera and to stop the motion of the butterfly.

Wow! This is impressive! Very good macro, very sharp and all the little flys sharing that juicy orange.
Nice shallow dof.
Very well done on the pp.

Take care, Yan :)

Wow! Great macro, Pedro! Stunning focus and details! I could see the very very small fruit flies. The butterfly's antenna is so detailed. I like the bokeh and the blurred background. The orange on the foreground is so vivid in color. Exposure is well managed.
Bravo!
Freddie :)

Hoi Pedro,
Geweldige macro man! Superb capture with excellent colours so an special and attractive image in my opinion. Particular the black&white butterfly is a striking part of the sharp picture. It look like it has some company of other little bugs :-)
