[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Remembrance Day - a special day in the Netherland, followed by Liberation Day on May 5. That was the day 50 years ago that my third sister was born and when we were walking to school all the flags were hanging outside the houses, creating a very festive mood.
.
Here we just had visited Hans to celebrate his 50th birthday and we wanted to be in the dunes around 20 hours, when there is 2 minutes silence. My camera time is not yet on summertime, but this is taken just after the 2 minutes silence.
.
This picture also answers the question of Glint, who was wondering if the lens was suitable for landscapes.
When the landscape is not good then it is my wrong choise of settings.
.
The skyline is formed by the "Hoogovens" a huge plant producing steel and by doing that producing air pollution, but I think they are photogenic because of the contrast with the landscape and since I am a consumer, who am I to judge....
.
In the WS I will add a Google map that shows exactly where we are. The sun went down an hour later at 21.00 h. I could have used a gamma correction to make it lighter, but this is the mood I remember.
.
Have a lovely weekend,
Els

I like the shot and I like the note, too.

have a great weekend,
v
ps.A bit too much sky ?!

Hi Els !
very clear image - the tow people provide us with an excellent sense of scale :-)

Best regards, Daniel

Hi Els,
A photo with an environmental message :) I do notice though that the more particles in the sky (like volcanic dust or possibly also pollutants), the more spectacular the sunrise and sunsets. So these "Hoogovens" might have a good spin off for us photographers :) You've captured the scene well ... I like it. Well done! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Hallo Els.

Well Els, I think your lens performs perfectly... my only problem here is that I don't really like the landscape with all that petrochemical industry.
Technically quite good, though. The blue sky is a nice touch.

About 1/10 of the haze that we have had here for weeks now Els. The figures show the vastness of the area well. Lovely light and fine detail. TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Twisted Seeds’. As you are well aware I rarely use frames anyway Els, the text work is something I only do for the cards and the themes :)

i think that value of Remembrance is so important.. for everyone, for people.. for nations!! it tells us.. who we are.. ;)
i think your capture is great.. giving so well this idea of contrat between nature and man!! excellent landscape.. with good dof and campo!! well done Els.. thanks
ciao Marco

Congratulations and TFS,

on saturday

Thank you for your good wishes, Els.
May I wish you a similar weekend.

I like this shot for its layers of colour.
First the dark green of the brush; then the lighter more olive green of the dunes' grass; then the pale blue sky with its lower tone of smoke pollution.
The tiny people made me re-assess the whole shot! I had the scale completely wrong!

The light really is magical!

kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hoi Els,

Zijn erg geen romantischer stukjes duin waar je kunt gaan wandelen? :-) Haha, grappige note, maar ook met waarheid erin waar je zegt dat je ook een consument bent - dus wie ben jij om iets te zeggen over de Hoogovens.
Hahaha, search the red dot in de workshop. Grappig.

Groet! Dennis

The hill side are exceptionally lite by the setting sun. The inclusion of the two people provide a good understanding of size.
Your notes are very interesting.

Hi Else
Right away I couls see it was done with a widew angle and I am glad you took this Point of view... I love the sandunes here which look like they are a million miles away from civilization but there are the ominous the factories and chimneys spewing smoke and gas into the atmosphere... here the 35mm focal length was wonderful..... Now you are making statements... good worl my friend...Roman:0)

Els

muy bien logrado excelente paisaje y me agrada el toque de la gente a lo lejos
