I am finally back on TL... It's a quite busy period for me and I'm sorry for being absent from here.
But I really needed to post this shot now.
The interior view you see belongs or, more correctly, used to belong to the Faculty of Architecture of the Delft University of Technology, one of the most prestigious european one.
On Tuesday 13 May at half past 9 a fire destroyed the whole building. Noboby was hurt since the entire building had been evacuated, but as you can imagine this accident meant a loss of the work of staff and students and a number of collections.
When I came to know about it, I was quite upset since two years ago I studied there, spending much time inside that building. I learnt a lot about architecture and met very interesting and kind people, who gave me the chance to grow up as an architect and, most impontantly, as a man.
This is a case in which a building is not just a building; it's much more, it's a pulsing heart of culture and creativity! But I'm also sure that, although materials, books, maquettes, computers etc. are unfortunately lost, human aptitude, skill and creativity survive anyway in the same way my memories are kept in life by that light that illuminated my days.
This post is to wish good luck to the staff and the students who, on next monday, will start their activities again inside some tents.
I'm posting also a workshop with an image of the building during the fire, courteously donated by my friend Wilburt. |

I'm sorry for the terrible event, it's obvious this place has meant a lot for you...I'd feel the same if I'd hear that the faculty where I spent the most beautiful years of my life, has burnt to ground!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful memory and homage!
Best regards,
Diana
