Haarlem partly desaturated

Here my contribution to Smurfies's theme: "desaturation". Well it's the market place in Haarlem, during the yearly book market, showing the former town hall of which one facade is kept in colour.

Hope you like it and if not: that's a pity for you :-)

In the WS you find the original picture.

Hello Hans,
One good exemple of desaturation for this week's theme and also a good exemple of Dutch architecture that pleases me a lot .Is this the original color of the facade you left intact or you have changed it by tinting it ? It surely jumps !
TFS,
Carol

Hello Hans,

I love this shot with the people busily going about their daily lives against this fabulous backdrop of a building.

Please forgive my frankness but IMHO you have desaturated the wrong bit. I find the partial desaturatiion of the building a little disconcerting and would have found it better if you had desaturated the whole, but coloured some of the people in the f/g.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

hmm... although I am a B/W fan, I think I prefer the colored version better than this...
although if it would be all in B/W it would be like an old picture... which is also nice!
Partly desaturation in images probably looks best in flowers pics..... I tend to agree with Beverly... sorry!

Cheers!
Anneke

Hi Hans

Hi Hans,
Nice shot of Haarlem market, I like the work you have done here but think that maybe one of the people in the forground would have been good in colour as well as the building,
Well done
Regards Andy

Hi Hans,

Great image, lovely lively composition, and lots of depth. The building you have picked out is superb, it really stands out.

My preference, in all honesty, is for the original full-coloured version.
I like the capture, composition and details throughout
Take care of that big toe, big guy :)

Hiya Hansie

Well I love it! however I have to say I can understand why you have differing critiques here. This is an amazing shot that appeals to people for different reasons. Some will love the building or part of the building, others will love the busy shoppers and others will like the view overall. this is why I think some like the selection for desat and others differ in thier opinion.

Overall a busy, sharp and nicely composed image and me? I love the area you chose to leave saturated.

TFS and for joining in the theme

kind regards Helen

Hello Hans,
Excellent composition and desaturated theme.
Well done my friend.TFS

Perhaps the tower and a couple of the people Hans? :) A good conversion to begin with and the PP work has good clear edges.
David

great shot... i think that you has desaturated the correct part... congratulations by this great one... TFS my friend... i like it...

funny note :D

a lovely experimental, Hans.. i would never thought of doing the building in colour.. haha i guess you want it differently.. the view is lovely.. tfs..

regards, terry

Hi Hans!
Very interesting addition to the friday's theme.
Partial desaturation, if compared to the original picture, adds plenty of old fashioned taste.

Ciao, Antonella

this is a detailed view of daily life and a besutiful composition,

Well done Hans! Good idea for the theme, you composed the scene very well and the result is very good, thanks my friend!

Ha ! Zulke dingen (B/W) trekken natuurlijk m'n aandacht.

Digitaal zo gepiept, analoog ... je zou me horen

LOL
Zal de andere commentaren subiet eens lezen
Eerst zelf schrijven, dan de anderen lezen :
dat is leerrijk !
( én eerlijk )

Groetjes
Jan

HI!
