[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the port of The Hague 'Scheveningen' there is a museum ship from the Dutch Marine and in front of it is this Sea-mine, brought in by a Dutch small fisshing boat.It got trapped in there nets.
The little white textplate has a written text:

English Contact mine, Type MMK 1,
Captured by the fisshing boat:
TH 10 ''Neeltje Jacoba'' on 24 of April, 1974

See workshop for enlargement.

Thanks and bye
Rob

Hi Rob, wow! This is looking so strange, a mixture of sea bomb and extra-terrestrial vessel :))

Nicely captured, good control of light.

Very well done! Yan :)

ps: many thx for your crit on "Queen Mary Meets Frontenac".

More like the withces cauldron if you ask me. Something from Mackbeth. Double, Double, toil and trouble. I'm sure this can be trouble. Great capture and intersting. Never seen anything like this before.

Hi Rob,
I have to agree with Yan this thing looks strange. I think we should recycle this this bomb and use it as a kettle for my Sauerkraut ;-). Well captured, sharpness, details and colors are very good.
Gruss..Sky

Many thanks for your comment on

Don't think Maggie M's workshop had much to do with it Rob. Taken 3 weeks apart and different times of the day.

Hi Rob,
The fisherman that brought this back to the port were lucky that it did not explode. Very nice photo of it with a semy blur boat in the background. TFS

Hi Rob,
Poor fisherman! Was it conscious of the danger? If so, it is quite courageous! Pretty colors. The carbonaceous black particularly. I like its patina. very well captured! Bravo! Annie

Thanks for sharing.

Hello Rob: Interesting artifact, well presented in its setting. Hopefully, it has been rendered impotent. The dent in the casing tells a story of a Near Miss - and the fishermen can consider themselves very lucky. There are still many 'memorabilia' out there undiscovered, a legacy to mans collective insanity....
Cheers
Otto

Maybe this could be used has a big pot of beans, which would create a different sort of explosion. The top weld in the middle doesn't seem to be of good quality. We can see that this sea mine was hit and it's a chance it didn't explode.

Hello Rob,
I remember there used be one of these in Piccaddilly Gardens, Manchester. That one had a slot for donations to charity (widows and orphans I think). As a child the irony involved escaped me, but I always contributed.
Great picture!
Best wishes
Bill

Hi Rob,
I never understand why the highest technologies are always used first in weapons !

Good picture

Hi Rob. Interesting capture. Having heard about them in books and movies, good to see just how substantial they really are. Good POV and message. Murray.

The madness of one powerful person; and the generations had to pay the toll of war.....

Beautifully composed image from an excellent angle which is enabling the vision charming. Well balanced and nicely cropped to emphesise on the subject. Well done Rob.
