Autumn

When the summer has ended various fairs will display the fruits of the summer. We like to go to fairs, lots of goods and much nice things to see. Most of all, mostly you see the best of the best. All things that come of the land and that is given by nature.

For this one we went to see the "Garden & Country Fair - Marienwaard" one of the biggest fairs. Very crouded with people but there's enough to see, do -and- taste!

Many producers have their own presentation, for this one a publisher called "Landleven" (Countrylife) displayed an almost common but typical scenery that can be found in their magazines.

It was there to be photographed but I saw and knew it wasn't with the typical magazine style PP aftertouch. At home I tried to imitate that sort of PP and I almost reproduced the very same effect.

Looks very nice indeed but to reproduce this completely you need lots and lots of stuff, mostly stuff we don't need and use. So that's where it ends for me, I just don't buy that sort of things in this proportion.

Enjoy autumn and see you again, Richard

Technical aspects:
I did not have the right tripod with me so I used something to lean against. Searched for the right composition and took some shots. Meanwhile it was very crowded in there and manny people reached with their hands in my composed scenery, so.. I just waited for the right moment...

Postprocessing: PhotoShop, cropped it a bit and did a little skew to straighten things up, some levels, color balance, and used Neat image to remove some unwanted spots in some areas, finally some selective diffused glow to fully recreate that magazine style. Framed and resized it for the web and finally a bit unsharp mask to resharpen some of the details.

Conditions: Very crowded room and a late sun of summer through the window.

My Goal and Feedback request: As we all can see just by looking at photos in magazines there is so much to learn just by watching. Look how they did it, what are the key parts in the composition, the angle, the PP work. Even glossy magazines sometimes use simple techniques.
I did not say that such a technique is all it needed. And that's knowledge!

Enjoy this view and I hope you enjoy the autumn just as much as I do. If it was only by looking back to the summer!

Very festive table, Richard, and does look like a shot published in magazine. My only nit-picky comment is about the strong light coming from the window that seems to take over on the glass ornements on the right. Otherwise, I like your composition and the great colours. Congratulations on your patience as I am not much into taking pictures in crowded places...too much work. Well done!

Hello Richard
How nice it is . You took it well . I read your note and I found it perfect and I give it useful mark .
Bonne Continuation

Hello Richard
I love your notes, they are very informative and helpful. Especially looking in magazines and books to see how other people take their shots. I just picked up my 1st magazine, it has lots of good information.

The composition is excellent and the colours are so festive. Your shot looks as if it came out of a Martha Stewart magazine.

You left a critique for me a while ago and mentioned that the EXIF data comes with your upload. Question ...does it still come with the photo if you crop and sharpen in Photoshop then Frame in Adobe Illustrator??

Happy New Year
Janice

This is just wonderful, Richard! I love the light almost washing the colors of some of the elements in the pic. It's very inviting to sip a cup of tea :) I like the balance and the stability in your comp. This is great!
TFS,
Freddie :)
