[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Two years ago I and two friends decided to surprise another friend of ours with a day off. We woke her up at 8 that morning, and at 9.30 we were cycling in 'Park de Hoge Veluwe', a beautiful (protected) nature area. On our way we discovered this lake with a view at the hunting lodge.

The St. Hubertus Hunting Lodge is the former home of the Kröller-Müller family. This imposing hunting lodge was designed in 1914 by H.P. Berlage. Mr Kroller was a keen huntsman. The Hunting Lodge is therefore inspired by the legend of St. Hubert, the patron saint of hunters. The legend goes that one day when out hunting, Hubert (665) - a wild and frivolous huntsman - came across a stag with a glowing crucifix between its antlers.

He was so moved by this that he turned to Christianity, and subsequently became a bishop. Hubert was declared a saint and protector of the hunt. It is not just the stained glass in the hall that depicts this legend. The two wings of the building and the high tower symbolise the stag's antlers and the glowing crucifix. (Check this to see the shape of the building in an overview).

Cool photo and GREAT note.
Well done Mariet.
Cheers,
Brad.

Hello, Mariet,
Good presentation of the St. Hubertus Lodge, it's such a pleasant place with amazing gardens as well. And riding a white bike across the park is unforgetable :)
I like how you captured the lodge from a distance to show the surroundings, I like the reflections in the water as well.
Regards, Evgenia

Hi Darlene
Beautiful photo you present here. I like the composition very much.
The reflections of the castle and the trees are giving the picture a nice depth. All lines in the picture lead to the castle.
Good job ! TFS
Marcel

ps I like your note.
Did your friend really like the surprise ;-). I mean, been waked up at 8 on a day off and go biking isn't the most beautiful surprise I can imagine.

Hoi Mariet,

Prachtige inzendig!
Hans
