[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Weather during the week-end was incredibly beautiful - we actually had a spotless blue sky yesterday! So we decided on a drive to the beach in Dishoek.

Later on we went for a walk on the boulevard in Vlissingen. As we had managed to lose Dingo's leash on the beach we were lucky to find a pet-shop almost immediately... anyway, we had our first stop of the year at a pavement café, and enjoyed watching the numerous ships that pass Vlissingen on their way to the Channel.

As we walked on I noticed this vessel, the "Onego Trader", which was slowly moving in front of the setting sun, and I took a couple of shots.

I had some trouble picking the one to post: this version, or the one you can find here. I finally decided on this one, for the cast of the sun on the bridge and its reflection on the water. Please let me know which one you prefer...

Tech talk

Converted from raw after using an exposure compensation of -1/3rd stop.

Rotated slightly ccw to straighten the horizon.

Croppity-crop to get a wider aspect, emphasizing the length of the vessel.

Downsized for TL as per usual, USM 80%, 0.3, 0.

Hello Frank!!!
Very creative photo!!Nice compocition and great colours!!!Good effect!!! Good work!!!
Monika!!

Hi Frank, very nice capture of the boat at sunset. And likewise in your ws, I like the ws very much with the sun on the tip of the boat but the strikes in the sky are distracting.

But both photos are very nice and well captured. Great colours and gradiant shade in the sky.

Very well done! Take care, Yan :)

ps: thank you very much for your review on "Golden Retriever Playing in the Snow". I am very happy that you like it and I take into consideration your suggestions :)

Frank, good capture of this ship at sunset. WS is also good with full dawn in view. Liked both. :) Vandana

Hi Frank,

I could have easily mistaken this as a photo from perryhooter! (^_^) I like the almost silhouette of the ship against the warm orange sky! I too prefer this one as opposed to the WS.

Well seen & composed
Constantinos

Frank ! We zijn het nog maar ens eens.
Laat dit geen gewoonte worden ... :-)

I love this hour of the day. Produces excellent photos like this one. A boat and the dusk. Nice catch Frank with fine atmosphere.

great photo, colors are great, well done!

love the light and consequently the colours, also the reflection on the water, thanx, M, (*_*)

Yassou Frank,

Lovely dusk shot! The colors and light during dusk are really beautiful.
Your composition is well thought, filling most of the frame with the ship and the sharpness is excellent.
TFS,
Vassilis

I like the late evening sun colours. Good silhuoette. How nice you were able to enjoy the day, here it is -14c and very cold. I haven't been out to take pictures all of February.

Hello Frank,
This is avery nice photo with a great mood. I like the colors of the dusk with the golden sky and the reflection of the sun on the boat reflecting on the water. The structure of the boat add some nice vertical and horizontal lines.
Greetings.
Luc

Hi Frank

Nice graphism & partial silhouette of the tanker, with pleasant pastel sunset colours. Tfs!

I prefer this one without a doubt. In the other one the sun is stealing the show. Here I would have placed the boat closer by and show more of the nice sky.

TFS,
Pedro
