[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My first 'serious' camera work, TL.
Last Monday (a nice sunny day) John Tulip and Yolanda phoned me for a Capucino invite in Breda's center.
(My town and John's Mother lives there too)

With a good friend I arrived at the sunny terrace and had a few good laughs and talks.
John is a pleasure to have around :-) Than John lend me a 1 gig compact flash card and told me to try his camera and explained a few basics.

Yolanda wanted to do some shopping, so we walked to this place here, called:
The Barones (nice new little shopping mall)
You can see Yolanda my friend and John in the mall at distance.

To get the outside light and inside I used:
ISO 600
1/60 speed
f 5.6 diafragma

Camera/John has 2 great lenses:
24-105 Canon L series- IS USM- and Tamron 18-200

At home I copied the photo's to computer and John: CF card is send back by mail :-)
Do I liked the camera? YES Would I like one? NO!! :-)

TOO large for my sweet little 'delicate' hands

John adviced me the Canon 400 or Nikon 40D

Big hug John and Yolanda we see you soon in your The Hague :-)

Bye all and thanks
Josine

Een Huuboid loopt langs; een foto zoals ik 'm gemaakt kon hebben; klinkt wat ijdel, maar zo ik het. Prachtig dus! Doorgaan zo Josine; John inspireert!
Huub

Hi Josine:
I only got to know you through John's story, so I already knew parts of it:)
Now about the capture, Are you sold on Canon 30D (same setup that I have. Now the great thing about it is that at ISO800 you can hardly see noise (do I sound like a sales rep yet:)
Outstanding balance of inside and outside light and composition is superb, and I think this should do it for now!
Regards
David

He Joos,

Hoe gaatie?

Groet,

Hendrik

Hi Josine, great work with beautiful colors and great light, lovely photo, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hallo Josine.
Mooie opname daar in Breda. Mooie kleuren en een gode compositie.
De man op de voorgrond doet me denken aan de stijl die Huub wel handteerd.
knap werk
Groet Frans

Hi Josine,
I like this! Great composition and colours. Sharpness and details are excellent and the lighting is great. Well done and TFS
Cheers Tina :-)

Ah that John, always there to lend a hand :-).
Wonderful shot. Excellent lighting.
Well done

Hello Josine,
Nice to see you back with a wonderful posting. Great composition, sharpness and splendid colors. Very well done. TFS

PS: As we say in Canada, tell John to write the 35 Euro's on the ice (*_^)

Hellooooooo Josine,
You made very good use of John's camera, very colorful and crisp images. Of course, I think the rent is a bit deep, but worth it, (^-^)!!! Thanks for sharing,
Fran

Hi Josine,
Nice shot, good exposure. I like the movement that is visible on the person walking in the foreground.
Good note too.
Well done,

Hoi Joos, wa's dah nouw ? :-)
Geweldig. Groet
Rob

Excellent picture you made here, Josine.
Almost thinking that the equipment did it. lol
But sure, your eyes captured it.
Jan

Hi Josine,

I think you did a great job here! Very nice composition and perspective! The exposure is perfect for so many different light sources and the DOF great. I'm glad John gave you his camera and you did this nice shot!
I agree with John's recommendations about petite cameras to fit your delicate hand!lol!!

TFS,
Vassilis(*&*)

Hi Josine. I know what you mean about the larger camera, my hands are not small but they don't feel right. A well composed image with good colour and light. Fine detail and the framing works well. TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Little Dove...’

Hello Josine,
You have produced a well balanced exposure here between the intereior and exterior of the mall. It was kind of John to lend you his camera. This is an interesting, well framed picture of the mall entrance, although it looks like it might a bit up-market for my taste.
Well done!
Bill

Mooie dieptewerking in mooie kleuren.

Hiya Josi,

Good shot here with Johnny's camera, they take a bit of getting used to don't they? Having delicate hands was a good excuse though just incase anything didn't turn out right :)

Great shot

Johnny UK

Hi Josine,

See how great it is to work with such a fantastic camera?? :))
Great photo with vivid colours! I like the way you captured the man's movement.

Well done

Hello Josine

The lighting balance between the inside of the mall and outside is very good. I think I recognise John on the picture, he's the one with all the womens.

Thanks for sharing this picture and I agree with you, John is a pleasure to have around.

Hi Josine,
This is a very good photo! Clear and sharp with a strong composition. I like the foreground with this man walking. It contrasts very well with the great perspective of architecture. Very good light and use of the Tulip's lens! Bravo! Annie

Hi Joos, nice to see this mall photo. So you enjoyed the camera and the company :). Nicely composed and presented. Hugs, Vandana

Another nice one. I like the depth you created here. Nice repitition of the lights and pillars inside .

Hi Josine, wow, this is a great photo, very well done on the comp, the colours, the sharpness and the walking man is a bonus.

I'd recommend the Canon 400D, Josine. I have a 350D and love it, even though it's a bit small for my hands ;o).
Anyway, try before you buy. A dSlR is still an investment so don't throw away money in buying a camera that turns out a wrong choice...
As for the picture, I like it. John and Yolanda are both too far and too dark to distinguish them, but as a street photo it's a good one. The outside isn't overexposed, the inside of the mall is fairly well lit. All in all a difficult shot for the light meter. The guy's motion blur is a nice touch.

Hi Josine,
A nice job testing out another camera . . . you must have very tiny hands indeed, because while my friends' cameras have felt huge to my small hands, I love the feel of my Rebel XT, which I think is similar to the 30D. Nice decision on the ISO . . . my only gripe would be that I can't see the rest of the logo over "de barones". Nice color and detail.
All the best,
Karen
