[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Large pink and red wading bird, related to and similar to the heron, a stork, and spoonbill but with a longer neck, its feet are webbed, and a unique down bent bill.

Flamingos live in a tropical climate, although at times colonies have been observed high in the Andes. The American flamingo is now rarely seen in Florida nesting chiefly in the West Indies. Its plumage eight vermilion with black marks on the wings; a common South Asian and African flamingo is scarlet with black wing feathers.

When eating the flamingo scoops it's a large bill backward, shallow water in marshes and lagoons. When closed, the serrated and aquatic plants, shellfish, which the bird feeds. The nest is a cone of mud 1 to 2 ft. high and about 1 ft. across with a depression on top. The mates take turns incubating the one or two eggs, sitting astride the nest with their legs folded flat on either side.

This one is taken in Blijdorp zoo in rotterdam, I cropped him, I hope you will like it

Absolutely stunning on how you made the bird so bright with colour and the rest b/w

Well done

You've made an outstanding color/desaturation play here. Orange and soft "brown" works very well together. You're picture show a nice composition and very interesting disturbed reflexions on the water's surface too. Nice shot, nice work.

Wonderful shot, Japp. Beautiful colours on the main flamingo. You have desaturated the rest of the photo superbly. Th light and reflections in the water are excellent. Well done.

GREAT selective desaturation technique. I like the picture in many respects: first the color, then the composition. But most of all, i like the pose of your main subject.

An excellent motive to apply the selective desaturation technique to, Jaap. It sets the flamingo in front nicely apart from the rest of the bunch, and from the background. The only minor idea I have is I'd probably also have kept the color in the reflected feet of the flamingo, but that's a minor thing. Very well done!

The coloured one in orange is outstanding magnificently among the rest in B&W, Jaap! Fine water texture and reflections. Very well done!

At TE, your landscape and macros. Here I see your other speciality. Bird shots.

Nice post processing, I like the result, it's very nice

Hi Jaap, I do like how you have given us this one brilliant flamingo amongst the grey drab BG. It stands out well. Well done.

I like this shot, how you have seperated the one flamingo from the others in black and white. Well done.
