Or actually pre-nightglow, since we first got a laser show before the actuall nightglow 2007 started. I thought I posted a photo of the Balloon Fiesta Barneveld without any balloons.

It seems that the two times I've been photographing with Hans (GreenBaron) the theme green always seems to be present. Why couldn't they have chosen for a red colored laser show or a more sun colored laser show. It actually really doesn't matter what I do, the GreenBaron is always there. A few weeks ago I was watching some B-rated movie on TV. They had some kind of flying action with a crop buster (small plane used for spraying crop) and guess what, the name of the plane was GreenBaron.

Anyway, back to the photo. I combined three different shots with three different patterns. There were three chapters and in between each chapter a guy talked about the most strangest things that I thought had nothing to do with the fiesta or with the laser show. I think his topics were ancient times, present time and futute. But no words of ballooning or laser.

Its pretty difficult to get some good shots from such a show since you have no idea what going to happen. So I am glad I got some nice beams and figures in it.

All shots were take on my tripod with mirror lock up and the use of my remote control. Focus was set to manual and to invinity. All photos are taken with an aperture of F5.6. The first and third photos are a exposure of 8 sec., the second photo is an exposure of 10 seconds.

The PP process was simple, just a heavy crop and a conversion to TIFF. Sharpened each photo and resized. Dragged them into a new frame and sharpened them again.

Hi Niek

I think you were lucky to have Hans there as the green colour is just stunning. Love the series of shots. Excellent work on the exposure.

Amazing colour!

Very cool images. Yes, it is hard to setup when you don't know what is going to happen!

"It actually really doesn't matter what I do, the GreenBaron is always there...." Big Green is becoming quite the Stalker eh?? HAHA! This is a really nice attempt at catching the impossible...a shooting green light in the dark! HA!....but worthy, because it's nice and sharp with little or no noise!

I would think wearing a crucifix would take care of your Big Green problem! .........hee hee B-)

Hello Niek I think they use green mostly as it picked up better than a red lazer they use green lazer pointers for telescope sky pointers for the same reason. It might be worth trying some photoshop on changing the green to red as it probably would contrast better black and red. I think I like the middle one best then the first. Looks sharp and noise free tfs rgds Necip.

Hey Niek,
thats a great montage of the laser show! Some years ago, we had a night glow here too, but I didnīt had a camera. Your photo is well done, the laser-color is great!
Tfs,Sabrina

Neat images of the light show. Good successful experimenting. I would have thought 8 and 10 seconds would have been too long, but no so. Well done.

TFS!
Reid

Green or red... I can assure you there is a plane who is called Red Baron too :)
As i saw the light i was sure it was a laser show. Why not green! We are so familiar to the red that it's just good. Even Kathy is Familiar as i make her run with my old laser pointer. I just make sure that she don't receive it in the eyes or even that the reflection on the floor go to her eyes... Just her paws.

I few years ago i saw a good laser show at the Imax. Just a few month before i start photo as i think it about.. Colors of laser are limited! On that show there was red of course, green blue and i believe yellow too... That's all. But for the yellow i believe it was much powerful halogen...

You talk about 2 shots but i see 3. probably you talk about long expo. So the first shot would be a short expo! We don't see a difference in intensity cause laser light is already so powerful!
But i specially enjoy the last sequence who give me a impression of green fire!
An atomic dragon spit it for sure :)
Impressive presentation!

He Niek great idea!
I also struggled with these images, boring to see one, but great to see them in a compilation like here. Excellent artistic impression of this laser show. Superb presentation my friend! And watch out for the "Green effect" :-) [funny note!]

Hi Niek, Good to see the green laser show in your montage. In Shenyang similar lasers light up the sky oo. Good description and effect. TFS. Murray.
