Harbour 356
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I post this third pic far later then I initially planned to. Busy busy…. But here we go.
In Rotterdam like in most big harbour towns, the traditional harbours are retreating to the city borders or across it. After the oldest harbour areas of Rotterdam Zuid had been redeveloped intoan integrated living , shopping and commercial service quarter by the "Kop van Zuid" project, programs to relocate more recent harbours in
Rotterdam North are well underway.
In this capture a scene of the demolition of Harbour 356 (all Rotterdam harbours have unique numbers) is shown.
In this harbour bulk materials as sand, gravel and shingle were handled.
The control-cabin of a crane, separated from it’s huge pedestal is shown against the backdrop of the broken up concrete heavy duty pavement.
More pictures made during the demolotion of harbour 356 are here.
By the way: Happy Eeaster to you all!

I think, you've chosen the right B/W for this scene. The foreground is nice, the cabin, lonely waiting for destruction.... a "sad mood" I can see in your photo, Bert.
Great black and white. The shape of those windows is pretty cool. Great composition. Really nice. JP

Verty nice detailed impression of the demolition bert ..like the compostion here with the crana on the background and the conrete in fron t..very well seen and captured !
interesting, Bert... it´s not necessary to read your note to feel the sad mood. b&w is a great choice.
half of it is straigth shapes, the other, the iron embrassed in the concrete, round. and the window glasses have not been broken yet!
I like the twisted metal and concrete in the foreground and I think B&W is good ijn this shot. Good Photot.
