Picture this:
You join a Photo internet-site called Treklens
You get to know a few persons there and than you accept an invite to come to Holand....
Where you meet other TL friends .. so.. you're in a mini bus..You get at your destination.. and there they are:

Windmills in ' the wild'

Often you have seen them in photo's...but a
* Close Encounter of the first kind*
is a diffrent cup of tea.

Something to go and sit down and let it come over you!

Thanks for popping in Folks

John T

-PS
In my WS another sort of meet , other than Treklens ....

Hi Bro, this is a nice and peaceful photo with Vandana relaxing after a long walk I guess and admiring the scenery.

And in the ws you have a nice line of japanese girl full of laughter and posing for you beside the mill and it makes a more dynamic photo.

Both great images.

Take care, sis :)

Hello John,
A very touching capture. You have discreetly caught an emotional moment--the subject, veiled in the foreground, and the focus of her attention occupying the center of the frame.
A perfect note as well. . .
Congratulations,
Karen

Oh my sweet friend John!!!!!
I have tears in eyes, and the story you wrote with it,
is soooo true!

To be honest I don't think this is a spectacular photo in terms of wow-factor or composition; but sometimes subject alone is enough to make an outstanding shot.

That's what you've achieved here: the evocative scene of a TLer sitting and viewing these windmills-in-the-wild really appeals to the imagination, and tells a story so well that I can almost smell the fresh air!

Very nice work. Thanks for sharing it!

And Vandana has just the right idea - just sit and soak it all up, this typical dutch atmosphere. You knew just where to go John.

Hi John, I can see why you took this photo..capturing the mood of Vandana, as she looks at the windmills.... I have to agree with Robert... first thing I noticed when I opened this was the tree growing out of Vandanas chest!! eeekkkk...more care with the composition my friend.

2 points for trying.

Hi John, fascinating composition with sitting person and lovely windmill, great perspective, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi John,
that's the best place you can show to Vandana, I think she also loves this view as I do. I like all the water in your country, the clouds in the sky - and the peaceful places all around, I'm always happy to be in Holland.
I would like to make a tour with a house-boat on this water-streets, must be fantastic.

Good Morning Sir John,

I can the beauty of nature on the low lands which is breath taking. The selection of view point if wonderful along with inclusion of Vandana didi. Excellent image my friend. Well done.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful shot.

Good morning John!

It took me a while to post a comment on this one. As I like Vandana and you too. I know the feelings between you and her following numerous meetings and friendly relationship. But here I just want to express my opinion about the photo. Nothing else than the photo.

I have to agree with Rew here. If you took the best POV to capture the windmills in a distance , there is a big if. I think you also choose the worst one to capture Vandana. The tree seems to come straight from her since we can not distinguished the difference between her hair and the trunk.

Solution ? Well. Perhaps if she sat there , and you took the photo when she was unaware of your presence, a few steps on the left could have worked. Since, we are missing her face, by zooming more , you could have captured the windmills ( maybe missing the left windmill , and the tree completely. It would have still done the job.

Otherwise , you could have asked her to move slightly to her right and have her sitting to be halfway between the tree and the first windmill.

I trust you will not be offended, and find it constructive not in any way to be negative against you or Vandana.

Cheers!
Robert

Hi John
Beautiful scene with all these windmills and the canal in diagonal.
Vandana's presence adds to the mood of the presentation. It's funny
the tree and Vandana does not bug me, you may even say they are
two friends enjoying the view...You could have tittled this photo
"Friends, Introspection, Windmills". Well seen, I never get tired of
seeing windmills and lighthouses.

This is a great scene and interpretation, made very real by the "close encounters" description in your note:) Vandana's view becomes the camera's POV, and from that we experience seeing the windmills together. An image to remember:)

Hi John, great photo of Vandana taking in the scenery. I like the tree & the windmills in bkgrd! Thanks for all the good words on my Clydesdales. Not the greatest since I had trouble getting good bkgrds but thought the beauty of the horses was worth posting but did not get much response. Busy again, my wife just went to get the grandson. Seems he can unpack boxes about as fast as his mother can pack for the move, so we are keeping him a few days! Hope you & the wife have a great week-end!! :} Don
