[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello All
After seeing the special last photo from friend JohnTulip, I rememberd to have some of the Delft canals too, about parking problems.

Did we read in John's note how carefully one has to manouvre while parking in Delft (yes by the inch!) I encounterd another problem: A dangerous looking 'BodyGuard' :-)

When I finaly found a place to park, wife -daughter and I came out of the car (on the dry side) when I realised mr Macho here had his young ones with him close bye (grey brown swans more back)

He even made a sort of ' shhhh shhhhhh ' sound
So, camera was in the car and here we are:

Mr Bodyguard of Delft

Bye

Rob

Very good presentation of this war-ship ! This bird has the power in it to break your arm. The shhhh shhhh sound is comming from its internal circuits which are focussing on you, just before launching a real big present (of did the shhh sound came out of its mouth?).
Good capture and presentation. Good note too.
greetings,
Joop!

Hi Rob:
Very interesting capture and the note!
Its the contrast of beackground that I notice...
Excellent post!

hehe Rob.. nice note there.. i once have my picture taken near the swan but when the film developed i look terrified and ready to run.. recalling another memories in London. they are so many of the swans there..

good shot of this unique bodyguard.. :)

regards, terry

You are very brave Rob to get close to this fella, although it's not a problem to subdue these guys. Just grab their necks with your right hand, scoop them up with your left hand...and hold......they will get tired of your game! HAHA!
Nice shot!

Nice emphasis on the texture of the plumage.

So parking spaces are at a premium? Maybe you had to plug a coin into the swan? How are your tires? Some swans are trained to open the tire valves if you are parked too long.....

Hallo Rob

Anyway, TFS.

Hi Rob
Good title, everybody seems to be afraid off those swans, mostly because all the untry storries about them, it can realy not harm anybody, at almost it can make people afraid.
Never mind, a great shot, superb sharpness, excellent light and a good POV, on top of that you have made a brilliant presentation, so only one more thing to say, great job my friend.
Regards
Jens.

Yes Rob, they make great guard dogs and if they make a mock-attack at you that can be really scary - well that proves they are good parents - that must count for something.
We do have beautiful cities in the Netherlands don't we?
Lovely moment captured.

hi Rob

Swan is very protective, especially when she/he has offsprings around to look after. Your composition here is up close and sharp.

Nice pose from this pov. I like the diagonal edge of wall running from corner of photo.

Hi Rob, hihi, funny swann and quite ferocious :)
Well caught and apt story.

Looking on the side left between the canal and the car, there is really not a lot of space indeed :)

Cheers and take care!

Hi Rob,

Seems the size of this swan is quite big . .
I had bad experience dealing with this kind of swan . . no more close with them . .
Beautifully composed with showing the surrounding . .
Nicely framed . .

Tfs,
TJutjut

Many thanks for your kind words on Eye of grasshopper .

Hi Rob,
It sounds like you encountered problems with a feathered friend too...at least he didn't chase you! Very good pp work with the out of frame tail feathers, colors and light are also very good, thanks for sharing,

Hi Rob
He stand there looking very proud almost like monarchy, I just hope he's house trained.
Very good shot and TFS

Swans can be almost as agressive as geese Rob. Good focus on the bird and the foreground with natural overall colour. Not so sure about the out of frame work which looks a little unsharp but it is something I won't try. TFS,
David

Have a nice Sunday.

Hi Rob,
I don't know about Swans, but Geese make fearsome guards, I know this from hard experience. Give me a guard dog any day!
A lovely picture Rob, well exposed and well framed too.
Best wishes
Bill

I would not mess with this dude! I saw on tv once, cars being pulled out of canals!

Hi Rob ^^
Excellent picture, it's beautiful
Nadine

Hi Rob
Nice clear shot with the swan in foucus. Beautiful bird always. The images is nicely framed just a shame you clipped the tail off but this out of frame is cool. Another thing - you need to clean the street there, too much grass :-)
Regards
Flemming

Hi Rob,

I appreciate this shot, because I know the spot we were there last September and I captured one of these lovely birds. Very nice low angle composition, very sharp and creative frame.
