Very fine composition on this one, John
And what fun to have you almost as my neighbour in the gallery today!!

Hello John, good perspective for this picture of this sleepy looking place.
The cloudy sky makes a good backdrop for the buildings. The block paving in the fg gives a great feeling of space.

Hi John,
Nice compo with the line of the trees. Willemstad. Hahaha, I was thinking about Willemstad in Curacao :-). The first thing I thought was 'Do they have Sligro on Curacao?!'. The second thing I thought was 'Hey wait a minute, this is way too organized for being the Curacao!!'.
Good to read that it actually is the province of South Holland. And yes, I agree with you. You can only photograph with one camera at a time ;-).

I love my 30D!! I've got to keep it for a while! This is superb shot Johnnie! LOVE the criss-crossing lines of the Herringbone style brick work! A funny story... my ex husband was a brick layer and he told me only SMART people could lay a Herringbone path.... I did it the first time by myself, without him...he came home and was mad! HAHA! That is why he is my EX!

Hi John...not sure why you'd go 30D to 40D, maybe there's a lens compatability issue, but i'd highly recommend you have a look at the 5D.
Another nice postcard shot of a lovely Dutch town, you and Hans should collaborate and produce a tourist book or get in touch with the tourism board, you take some attractive shots of your country.

Hallo John.
Met deze enorme voorgrond ziet het er 'Much bigger out' dan het is.

Hi John
One of these days, I'm going to buy a digital SLR, next time I go to the big city of Busan. What would you recommend?
I like the smoothness & repetition of the tiles in this image. Tfs!
Re the quote:
“For half a century photography has been the "art form" of the untalented."
Disagree. Being able to 'see' a good image is a talent you're born with.
"Obviously some pictures are more satisfactory than others, but where is credit due?"
to the designer of the camera?
Not necessarily. Gifted photographers can still get great images, with a cheap disposable camera, & untalented people can buy top of the range gear, & still take bad photos.
"To the finger on the button?"
I'd strongly agree with this one.
"To the law of averages?”
Only to a certain extent. As my learning curve went up, my images got better: Trial & error.

Deze bevalt me helemaal, John.

Hi John,
Unfortunately I haven't been here in the past few months, I simply don't have enough time... But it's difficult to live without You, Friends. I missed so many great images on TL... From so many Friends... Shame on me.
Great postcard view of the real Willemstad. :) Maybe the foreground's a little too much to my taste, although 'pavées' are sharp as razorblade. Servais Knaven would love them. :)
Good luck with the new camera. Tfs and congrats.
