[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A former neighbour of ours wanted to do something different on her birthday, so instead of sitting in a circle all day, we headed for the woods.
The weather was great 26 C (78.8 - thanks GreenBaron) and the landscape just beautiful. This time I took my camera with me on the walk, because otherwise I no doubt would have missed a lot and it's a nice way to thank your host afterwards with a collage/montage.
We are looking here at a place where a lot a small streams are formed - a well - a spring - a source.
.
In Wikipedia is the explanation as to how that is possible:
The Veluwe is a forest-rich ridge of hills in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. The Veluwe features many different landscapes including woodland, heath, some small lakes and Europe's largest sand drifts. The Veluwe is the largest lateral moraine in the Netherlands, stretching 60 km from north to south, and reaching heights of over 100 m (the peak height is 110 m). The Veluwe was formed by the Saalian glacial during the Pleistocene epoch, some 200.000 years ago. Glaciers some 200 meters thick pushed the sand deposits in the Rhine and Maas Delta sideways, creating the hills which now form most of de Veluwe. Because the hills are made of sand, rain water disappears rapidly and then flows at a depth of tens of meters to the edges where it reaches the surface again.
.
Originally the Veluwe was surrounded by a string of swamps, very popular with the game like deer and wild boars because these areas offered rich vegetation to feed on. Since the 1990s many plans are underway, or have already been realized, to restore these wetlands by blocking the drainage systems built by farmers during the last 150 years. This results in very dry heathland changing into wetland within a space of just a few hundred meters. The Wisselse Veen near the village of Epe, on the North West Veluwe, offers a good example of this.
.
In the center of the southern Veluwe lies a national park, "Nationaal Park De Hoge Veluwe", measuring around 50 km², just five percent of the whole Veluwe. Although the park is relatively small, it blocks the passage of long distance walkers and game, because it is surrounded by high fences. The fences are needed because De Hoge Veluwe is the only part of de Veluwe with an admission charge. Further to the east there is second national park, called the Veluwezoom, also measuring some 50 km², which is not fenced in and freely accessible. There are plans to turn the entire Veluwe - the largest lowland nature area in North Western Europe - into one big national park.

Have a lovely day/evening/night.... hope there are also place like this near you where you still can find some magic...

Hallo Els,
26 graden?! Wij kijken al verschillende dagen naar een grijze, grouwe lucht bij 16 graden!
Warme groetjes,
Adri

Hi Els,
This looks a nice place to walk and explore, you have captured it well, I like the POV here looking down the steps to the water.
Well done
Regards Andy

So nice you can do this Els! HA! We have a park near us and I would not DARE walk back in the woods like this. Water moccasins and mosquitos would carry me away! This is a nice shot, very pretty work, love the wide angle view!

I think I would need my hiking pole to negotiate the terrain Els. Lovely greens and well composed with the trees and railings seeming to frame the central part. Good light and detail, 26C...only 11 warmer than I had it yesterday. TFS,
David

Interesting how the waters come together here Els. A truly special location - like to sit on the stairs and relax in the cool of the trees.

Hi Els,
Beautiful capture of the confulence of these tiny streams. This beautiful place is seen in brilliant light that is wonderfully fileted by the green canopy. Excellent informative note. Many of the samll rivers that feed into the Hudson River are called kills from the Dutch settlers (i.e The Battenkill, the Plotterkill).
Regards, Tom

H9i, Els,
A lovely park, apparently, a favourite of yours:)
I like the shades provided by the trees.
the stepped lanes are also nice.

Shade and sunlight through leaves - always a challenge to get that right on film/sensor, and you managed well, Els. A nice view. I hope the plans are carried out: there's way too few and way too small nature reservations in the Low Lands, so some expansion should be welcome.
On nit-pick, though completely irrelevant to the shot as it's about the frame: you should apply a bigger shade around the layer with the photo, and make that dissolve: this drop shadow you used is too narrow, and too bright to be "credible".
And hey, OF COURSE the camera comes along, no doubt about that!

out of the urban area. Delicious place!
The green, the catwalk of the roads,
I see to walk me for this place.
Beautiful post, be sure that I will have
a good week of pure fresh air.

Hi Els,
When I see scenes like this one the first thing that pops into my mind are situations like this one and it really makes me sad that everytime I go to the woods I keep on being confronted with them.

A very beautiful and tempting place to spend some time. I simply love it!
Nice colors and very good sharpness.
Have a nice week and TFS.

Lurdes

Hi ELS:
The interesting point in this photo is how my eyes are lead around the path and into the heart of the picture then up the stairs in the back and out...It looks like you could have done a touch more with levels to punch it up a bit more.... I really enjoy these type of photos where my eye is lead in and then out of the pic....Well done Els....Roman:0)

Hell Els,

Not only is this sort of party very different, it is also great for interesting conversation ... it offers opportunities to discuss what you see rather than the 'well-worn smalltalk'.

I love your well-chosen pov (I ready to join you on the downhill!), the lovely dappled light, the interesting pathways and the whole mood of freedom that is conjured up!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Els !
lovely nature hues, light and exposure.
I like the wooden bannister going from the lower right-hand corner of your frame and into the picture !

Nice effect. Well done.
