Almost home again

Bein home for one night.....

While travelling between Amsterdam and Norwich I have the change to make quite some pictures during the flights. This evening I flew home again, and while it was raining in Norwich, the weather cleared during the flight. Approaching the coast of Holland, the sky was clear and full of fluffy clouds.

This picture was taken while turning to the south on base leg, parallel to the coast. The town you see is Haarlem, were I live. After turning in to the north again we had an uneventful landing on Schiphol runway 06.

PP work:
Adjusted contrast and saturation, minor crop and add frame and text. Sharpened after resizing.

HI Hans, good to be home? Are you back there for good?
It is always exciting to be able to get some good photos of home when you are flying over it. This has come out well - can you see where you live in the photo?
It is certainly a flat country - so different from NZ.

Janice

Noord-Holland, eh? ;-)

I like the layers of land. cloud and sky here, Hans, with the wing framing the scene nicely from the top left of the shot. Judging from the wing position, you were flying economy...hehehe...tight squeeze there for you, big fella!

Always nice to see your home town as you fly over it - I head back to Scotland on Wednesday night, via Schipol...only a long weekend in Scotland, but will be good to be back for a few days.

Hi Hans,

This is a beautiful landscape (skyscape? :D) Nice shades of blues in the sky and water and the green of Holland. Close enough to really see some details of the town.

Hope you will be there long enough to get some rest.

Lisa :D

This is one of the best "in the air" shots I have seen -- b4ecause the clouds in the distance and the puffy one close by are just the perfect touches.
Excellent timing, wonderful composition (wing and all)

Hi Hans,
I read your respond to Richard! WOW you are lucky to have a seat in this "cattle class" with view! I would like to have this advantage for me! ;)
Very sharp image despite the window! The sky with these fluffy clouds is amazing! Bravo and thanks to share this wonderful view at flight of bird of your City Home with us! Annie

PS/ Many thanks for your comment on my post "Invasion"

Hi Hans
I like how you left part of the wing to frame the shot and getting it through glass so clearly is fantastic.
Dot

Hi Hans,
Good POV ... the cloud formation I reckon made this shot very interesting. Inclusion of the plane's wing also added perspective to the scene. Well captured and composed! tfs
Cheers,

Olá Hans,

Hi Hans,

Nice view with that piece of wing. Nicely saturated skyline with a good gradual blue. I like it!

Very nice aerial shot, Hans. That window must have been spot- and scratchless. Nice PP work, you show some excellent details. The distant cloud layer was about the same height as the plane, I guess: this shows the superstructure of the clouds very well. The blue sky is a treat, rather cloudy in Belgium for the moment.

well captured scene and moment Hans, wonderful color from the horizon.i don't see any sign of glass on the image.Happy trip always.well done.

Hi Han, I like shots from planes as it shows the country forms, here it looks very flat as expected. Good border and clear. TFS. Murray.

Hi Hans,
The effect gives us the impression to be in the plane us too. Beautiful clarity and superb colors. Thanks

DIT is nog eens leuk thuiskomen. Terug naar een koud kikkerland met zon! Erg mooie scherpe foto en de vleugel is precies goed geplaatst.

TFS Groetjes Simone

Nou gelukkig maar Hans dat je een uneventful landing had!
Ja, dit vind ik helemaal prachtig - die wolkenband, de vleugel - het gevoel van thuis zien....

TFS wish you many uneventful landings,

Els

Nicely captured Hans. Excellent colour and detail and the nice light. I see Janice's comment about the flatness, maybe I should relocate, no hills :)

Home of our Haarlem Globe Trotter.

Lovely POV (^_^). It looks like you were turning sharply to the left. It helped for sure to cut the reflections on the window. Superb panorama Hans !
