This week in the UK is Refugee week, the theme this year is 'Different pasts shared future'. How apt this image is, it shows that whatever backgrounds we come from we all share the same cities and towns. As for the photo, interesting crop, I see from the workshop that the background is a little distracting so a good decision to isolate and concentrate on the bringng out the character of the man.

Een portret met een enorme uitstraling, Els! De originele foto oogt ook zeer goed, maar je hebt er precies dat uit weten te puren wat hem zo pakkend maakt.

Mooi portret! :-) Excellent sharpness, You did a great job in PP with the black backround creating the view on this bolknak smoking guy. Like the shaddows on his shirt, particular the blue reflection of his glasses. Apparently he's a happy smoker :-)

Een typische surinamer ! Ik kan het weten, want mijn zwager is precies zo.
Pracht-portret. Heel veel details; je ziet de lijntjes in zijn hand. De rust zelve, die man.
Je hebt een nieuwe camera? ... een echte sony nog wel !! Mooi resultaat in ieder geval. Goede kleuren en scherpte.

from the thumbnail he look like wesley snipes the actor but when i look totally different person with a lil bit of likeness..

Mooi werk, Els - uitstekende scherpte in dit portret, en vlekkeloos extractiewerk. Al is dat bij een man altijd minder moeilijk dan bij een vrouw haha. Geen sigaar, dank je, doe mij maar een glas rode wijn. En ja, als het even kan, toch ook maar een mooie blauwe lucht en flink wat zon.
Het is weer even geleden dat ik nog in A'dam was, zou er nog eens moeten verschijnselen.

How did I miss this one in the gallery? It's simply an amazing portrait of a man who seems full of character and charm! How would one not want to have a chat with him?

Nice original in the workshop too, but you have done a terrific job in post processing adding the black background!! It really accentuates the details of this man.

I hope that there is some way you can get him a copy! I would be proud to have a photo this nice of myself....even though I don't smoke cigars! LOL Lisa

You did a great job in PP, as the BG of the Central station is not nearly as effective as this. Speaking about coffee, the First Class restaurant upstairs in the Central Station is a great place to sit and enjoy.

Wat een prachtig type is dit! Lekker karakteristieke kop heeft ie! Ik vind de workshop ook eigenlijk heel mooi met het centraal er achter. Denk dat ik alleen het centraal lichtjes gedesatureerd zou hebben en de foto verder zo gelaten. Maar dit is ook wel mooi!

You could not fine a more colorful subject with green shades, a fine cigar, plenty of "bling" and prominent premature grey hair.
