Fortune

That's the title of the book this man is looking at. Does it bring fortune? And if so to whom? To the buyer or the seller? Anyway we probably never know.

Well, took this picture on the Haarlem book market, which is held every last Sunday in June. Many many books are shown on these markets which are quite popular in the Netherlands. I showed another image from the Deventer Book market before. Well I did some PP work on this picture, see below.

Thanks for looking!

PP work

Shot in Raw. Cropped and adjusted brightness and contrast. Converted to JPEG. Selected the man and his book, reversed selection and blurred selected area (3 pix) Did some correction on the man's blazer and glasses. Resized, sharpened and add frame and text.

...who knows maybe the ones who wrote the book made a fortune in lies...:)
Wonderful posting, Hans, to say the least. Excellent focus on the character showing interest in the Fortune book...He's a very expressive character too. Very well seen and taken!
My best regards and compliments at the same time.
Diana :)

He looks like he is trying to memorise what he is reading... Good 'street scene, Hans. I was going to ask how you 'selected' the man - but I see you have similar troubles as I have when selecting. It is hard to not see some of the lines around his jacket and book (under the lady's arm) and the white places on his hair. I find it so hard to get a perfect result.

But the WORKSHOP - you should post it. She's amazing - I want a hat like that...

Cheers
Janice

Love those markets, Hans! Lately, I've been looking for a Austrian art book (tried book antiquariats in Vienna) on the internet, to no avail (well, yeah: found it in Sweden of all places) - maybe I should come to Harleem to look! (not for Fortune though!)
Cheers

Hoi Hans.

PS thanks for the birthday wishes. A very quiet day spent indoors beacuse of the cooler day. No kids thank goodness and the evening meal there was only three of us :)

The diet starts when the extremely rich cake is gone :)

Hi Han, I like spontaneous photos such as this. It is always a little nervous taking them as trying not to offend the subject. The DOF makes this a fine photo. TFS. Murray.
